CYS STRENGTHENS BOND WITH EXCHANGE CLUB Uniontown, PA - The Fairchance Exchange Club recently donated another large collection of items to Fayette County Children and Youth Services. Also known as CYS, the Uniontown-based county organization relies heavily on contributions and support from community members and organizations. With a goal of family reunification, CYS works to ensure county children’s safety by investigating allegations of abuse and neglect.... Founded in September 1946, the Fairchance Exchange Club comprises members who strive to uphold its three core values: family, community and country. The nonprofit regularly hosts fundraisers and other events with the goal of giving back to its community through donations, scholarships and more. The club’s most recent donation included care bags for children coming to CYS for the first time, which contained items such as blankets, toys, hygiene items, travel cups, crayons, activity books and more. CYS Deputy Administrator John Fritts said the bags will benefit those children who have to leave behind many of their belongings when entering foster care. When coming into placement, sometimes the children are removed from abusive or neglectful homes with nothing, Fritts said. The bags can instantly lift their spirits and show them there are people that care about them. It gives them something to take with them, all while putting smiles on their faces. Exchange Club Past President Christina Beissell works directly with Fritts and other CYS officials to help meet the agency’s needs through various fundraisers and events, such as the annual Ribs for Cribs 5K race. This is not the first time the Exchange Club has done this, Fritts said. They continue to support our organization and the mission of the agency through various projects.
