How Saint Joseph School of Mechanicsburg celebrated Veterans Day: We were not able to hold our traditional Veterans Day Ceremony this year, but we still acknowledged Veterans Day with our Hero Walk this week. The Veterans Day Hero Walk honors SJS family members and friends who have served or are currently serving in our military. For a $1.00 donation, students and staff participated in a red, white, and blue dress down day on Veterans' Day. All proceeds from the dress down ...day and Hero Walk will benefit Wounded Warrior Patrol. This is a local, non-profit based in Central PA with a mission of supporting the recovery and family bonding of wounded warriors and their families through recreational therapy of snow sports and other outdoor recreational activities. Each year, they host an annual event in which participants and their families can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, and other activities. This is a winter adventure of a lifetime for wounded warriors and their families. No prior experience skiing or snowboarding is necessary. For those unable to use skis or snowboards in a conventional manner, specialized instruction and adaptive ski equipment are provided. You can learn more about the Wounded Warrior Patrol by visiting their website http://www.woundedwarriorpatrol.org/ They have had to postpone their 2021 event, but they have also not been able to fundraise this year, so our help is greatly appreciated We wish to thank our students and families for their support of the Wounded Warrior Patrol.
