Yesterday, at the Girl Scout Cabin in North Park, Training Coordinator Jen Swab met with a local Troop whom she has been teaching since the girls were in elementary school. Now seniors, this will be the last badge training that Jen conducted with this group. Not all of the members were able to attend, but yesterday's training included CPR and First Aid. We thank the Girl Scouts for their support to us throughout the years as well and we wish all of the girls continued success as they complete their senior year and pursue post-graduate studies and other pursuits!

Ross/West View EMSA was the recipient of an Anonymous donation of 3 Binder Lift devices along with our very first EMS prehospital care Ultra Sound. Crews have already placed the Binder Lifts into service which help us safely lift patients who have fallen from unusual positions to a safe standing or seated position. The device helps us make the lift more comfortable and safe for our patients while protecting our crews during the move. Training will begin next week on the B...utterfly Ultrasound. Crews will initially use the device to assist in the placement of challenging intravenous access and look at cardiac activity. As experience progresses, the device will help us look at traumatic injuries along with a variety of other clinical presentations. Crews will learn detailed anatomy and physiology through the addition of this advanced medical device. A special thank you to our secret admirer!!

Today’s episode of where are they now shows off multiple Ross West View Alumni being involved in the opening of the new Allegheny Health Network Community Hospital in Harmar Townshup. Pictured from left to right are Paramedics Rob Druga, Prehospital RN Julie Ference and Paramedic Jeffrey Kelly. Paramedic Druga is now the Pre Hospital Coordinator for EMS services based out of AHN Allegheny Valley in Natrona Heights. Rob is still part time at Ross and still a very active membe...r of the North Hills SRT team as a tactical medic. Prehospital RN Julie Ference was a paramedic for Ross in the 2000’s. Since leaving she’s obtained both her bachelors and masters in nursing and has risen to be the Chief Nursing Officer for the entire Allegheny Health Network. Paramedic Jeff Kelly served as an Operational Supervisor for Ross in the mid to late 2000’s. After serving in this capacity Jeff moved to Cranberry Township EMS where he assumed the role as EMS Director for them. Jeff has also been Northeast Operations Manager for AMR (largest EMS service in the country) and is now currently the Chief of Transport Services for the Allegheny Health Network. It’s always great to see our alumni not only continuing to contribute and benefit to our communities but also to see them back together from time to time. Thank you for all of your hard work!

A few weeks ago, we shared the tragic news of the passing of one of the Ross Township Police Department K9 Officers. Jimy was the K9 of handler Ofc. Justin Allenbaugh of the Ross Township Police Department. In an effort to bring another K9 back onto the force, a memorial t shirt in rememberance of Jimy has been made with all proceeds going to fund the purchase of a new K9 for Officer Allenbaugh. Check out the link below to buy one and as always be sure to hit the share button so we can get the word out.

Last week was a busy time for us at Ross/West View EMS. Several of our rescue experts taught two rescue courses for certifications, including Basic Vehicle Rescue and Special Vehicle Rescue. The week was filled with classroom study and skills scenarios. We also could not have completed this training without the assistance of one of our mechanics, Ron Core. Please enjoy these photos and thank you to the instructors and to all of our staff who took the time to participate!
