Happy Solemnity of Pentecost The Holy Spirit in our time is revealing His Spouse! The Infographic is yet another step in our discovery. The relationship that... Mary has with the Blessed Trinity is unique. She is beloved Daughter of God the Father, She is Mother of Her Divine Son and as Saint Francis of Assisi and other great saints have said, "Mary is Spouse of the Holy Spirit." So at Pentecost, Mary knew the Holy Spirit intimately - again using the analogy of matrimony as the way to signify a union of two persons in their mission (although not carnal). It was the Holy Spirit who filled her with grace at her Immaculate Conception, as well as overshadowing her in a powerful way at the virginal conception of Christ our Lord. Recalling that St. Augustine said that the Old Testament is fulfilled in the New Testament, the readings from Pentecost Sunday provide yet another opportunity to reflect on further scriptural passages considering the Covenant and unlocking the mystery to Mary as The Ark of The The New Covenant. From Easter Sunday until the Saturday after Pentecost, the Church replaces The Angelus Prayer with the "Regina Caeli (O Queen of Heaven). With this prayer, we... eagerly fly to Our Blessed Mother and joyfully tell Her to rejoice because Christ, her Son, He who by God's design, She was chosen to bear, is risen as He said! There is a story from a work from the 13th century that states: "The people of Rome were walking in procession and chanting the litanies to ask heaven to remove a plague that was killing ninety men an hour, while Pope St. Gregory walked with them holding a perfect likeliness of Our Lady that had been painted by St. Luke. And lo, the poisonous uncleanness of the air yielded to the image as if fleeing from it . . .. Angels were heard around the image singing the first three lines of the Regina Caeli, Regina caeli, laetare, alleluia: Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia, Resurrexit sicut dixit, alleluia. ( V. Queen of Heaven, rejoice, alleluia. R. For He whom you did merit to bear, alleluia. V. Has risen, as he said, alleluia.) Pope Gregory added a fourth line that is slightly different from the version we sing today: ‘Ora pro nobis. Deum rogamus. alleluia’. When the pope then saw St. Michael standing on the top of the castle/mausoleum of the Emperor Hadrian sheathing his sword, he knew that the plague had ceased. Let us pray Queen of Heaven V. I was praying about where our Lord wanted His statue of Mary, Ark of The New Covenant, since I would not be traveling to DC for the annual March for Life the...n Fr. Joe Codori asked for Our Lady to visit St. Gabriel the Archangel (Holy Trinity in Robinson Township) For the first time since 1974, when it first began, the national March for Life, will be virtual, with many of us participating in peaceful prayer vigils in our own communities. I think the Blessed Mother will enjoy her Visitation at St. Gabriel's. Be sure to stop by for a visit and to pray for God to bring an end to abortion. See more
