During Monday evening's public Board of Supervisor's Meeting, Chief Bendig stated that in honor of Police Week, the Police Department would like to recognize se...veral members of the Department for their exceptional performance in the line of duty as recommended by the Police Department’s Award Committee: Officer Nicholas Eufrasio Arrest for weapons offenses and recovery of an illegal firearm. Officer Anne Marie Dobson and Detective Todd Walter Arrest for weapons violations, recovery of an illegal firearm and investigation into illegal straw purchases and arrests of 13 subjects. Officer Tim Woch Arrest for weapons offenses and recovery of an illegal firearm. Officer Andrew Bouch Arrest of juvenile and recovery of a stolen firearm. Officer Andrew Haber Arrest for weapons offenses, violations of the drug act and recovery of a stolen firearm. Officer Andrew Haber Arrest for weapons offenses and recovery of an illegal firearm. Sergeant Thomas Ward and Officer Matthew Seydel Official Commendation for Lifesaving In conclusion, Chief Bendig presented one last commendation, and that was to the sworn and unsworn members of the police department: It has been a very difficult 14 months for the men and women of your Department. Safe to assume the most trying time ever experienced for all in the law enforcement profession. Despite all these challenges, each one of the men and women of this Department has persevered. They have answered the call, overcoming the obstacles that have confronted them, writing their own narrative of being one of the premier departments in our commonwealth. Montgomery Township Updated Comprehensive Plan Status Update: During the May 6, 2021 meeting of the Montgomery Township Planning Commission, members of the Planning Commission and Township staff met with the planning consultant, Gilmore & Associates, Inc., to discuss the update of the 2008 Montgomery Township Comprehensive Plan. A crucial element to the project is public outreach to obtain local opinions and community support. The consultants presented the first method for s...oliciting public opinions the community survey. The community survey will be hosted by Survey Monkey and will be advertised through numerous Township outlets, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, Township website. The survey is directed toward Township residents and Township business owners and/or employees, and is intended to gather community perceptions of current and future conditions within Montgomery. The survey will be available between May 17th and June 14th. The planning consultant also provided the Planning Commission with some background chapters of the Comprehensive Plan including a brief Township history, the purpose of adopting an updated plan, and a summary of current demographic trends. The next meeting of the Planning Commission to discuss the Comprehensive Plan Update will be on June 3, 2021.

Dixon Community Cupboard thanks to the many community members who participated in our Fill-a-Truck Food Drive event last Saturday. Thank you for helping Montgomery Township make a difference. Leaf & Yard Waste Pick-Up Alert! While we typically have announced our Leaf & Yard Waste Pick-up by now, we are still working with the contractor to secure a date. The contractor has alerted the Township that they are working with many municipalities this season, making it difficult to confirm a schedule. As soon as we are given our date, we will post on social media, the website, and E-News. Please note that we still have our Leaf & Yard Waste Drop-off service available on t...he third Saturday (some holiday exceptions) of every month from 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon at William F. Maule Park at Windlestrae. The next date is Saturday, November 21. Yesterday, the Montgomery Township Department of Fire Services, Montgomery Township Police Department, Public Works Department, and Vol. Medical Service Corps of Lansdale participated in a table top exercise put on by Montgomery County Department of Public Safety. Montgomery Township Emergency Management staff makes being prepared for all sorts of different emergencies a priority! This particular training was focused on a roadway incident that involved a hazardous material leak.
