Check out the full post at instagram.com/temple_dpt , #TempleDPT Class of 2022 and Regional Consortium Coordinator of @northbroadpt The biggest change I want to see in this profession is increasing diversity and seeing more people of color becoming PTs. I think it’s more important because when you see someone who looks like you it’s easier to relate to them. I’ve seen patients who look like me and come from my community but then fall off the grid because t...hey just can’t relate to their PTs. I want to be able to better serve my community and just people of color in general. I know that we can help them better their outcomes in the long run. The biggest thing I’ve learned, is that I think I know more than I think I do. This is really amazing to me because I was afraid to make mistakes growing up, and now I know that I need to make mistakes to be a better practitioner in the long run. I know that imposter syndrome is something that’s very common for grad students, me included. I know that it’s okay because even though I don’t know things, it’s okay that I don’t know them because I’m curious to learn about it. I know that I’ll always ask questions if I need to, and getting that feedback from different professors has been really helpful throughout the whole process. #physicaltherapy #templeuniversity #templecph See more

Keerstin Robinson, #TempleDPT Class of 2021. SPT at Vital Energy PT in Columbia, SC My first week at clinical has been nothing but exciting. Being in a general outpatient I was really challenged by all the different types of diagnoses I’ve encountered my first week, from general reconditioning to working with patients with MS. What I’ve learned this past week is that mistakes are ok. Being novice is ok. Putting myself in an uncomfortable situation is ok. Because it helps me grow not only as a clinician but as a person. And it’s taken a lot of trial and error to realize that allowing myself to put myself out there, knowing I’ll make mistakes, is the single best way to becoming a proficient physical therapist. #physicaltherapy #templeuniversity #templecph

Growing up, he had special needs and required a lot of physical therapy. Being that he’s 2 years older than me, I always got tugged around to all of his therapy sessions but it was never like he was going to therapy. It was always like he was going to play, and he loved it. It made a huge impact on his life as well as my family’s. Growing up and seeing that, I’ve always really wanted to make an impact like that on someone else’s life, and I really felt that physical therapy was the way that I could do that that best fit me. Choosing Temple was really easy when I saw how committed Temple’s program is to the North Philadelphia community and how uniquely they can serve it. This past year I’ve gotten to help with blood pressure screenings where we got to talk to residents of North Philadelphia waiting in line for a food pantry about their health and what they know about it. I’ve also gotten to help at the North Broad pro bono clinic and I’ve interacted with people of all ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities that I wouldn’t typically run into or talk to. It’s been a really great opportunity and it just makes me realize that I made the right choice of being in Philly at Temple. #physicaltherapy #templeuniversity #templecph
