Are pelvic exams excruciating? Do you avoid intimacy due to pain? Does it feel like your partner is hitting a "wall" when attempting intercourse, and you are feeling pain? Do people tell you to "relax" or have a glass of wine before intercourse, but this isn't helping and things are getting worse?... These are some issues for women who have Vaginismus. This is a condition involving muscle spams of the pelvic floor making it painful or difficult to having pelvic exams or intercourse. 1 out of every 4 women will have pain with sex at some point, yet they rarely discuss it with others (even their doctors!) It can happen from the first time you have sex, after you have been having sex for while, after starting a new birth control, having a baby, starting menopause....or sometimes it just happens! Contrary to what people say, drinking a glass or wine, using more lubrication, "just relaxing" is usually not enough to overcome this problem. The great news is there are many ways to overcome this problem. In fact, we see it all of the time at Elite Pelvic Rehab Give us a call today at 570-970-0402 or send us a message to find out if we can help

There is a difference between "common" and normal". After prostate surgery, after having a baby, as a woman enters menopause, etc it is common to have this issue. While we see this occur often, it is not "normal" and can be fixed.... After seeing your doctor to rule out any underlying medical cause, we find that most people have a pelvic floor that is not working the way it should. This is great news, because by re-training the pelvic floor to do what it should people return back to laughing, coughing, jumping, sneezing without fear of leaking. We see this problem all of the time at Elite! Call us today to find out if physical therapy is right for you (570-970-0402).

It's hard to believe we have been at this for 8 years! 20 years if you properly calculate how long 2020 has been ;) We started with just one PT in this division of Elite Spine and Sports PT (me :) ) and grew to 4 PTs plus 2 PTAs (adding an additional PT in a month).... It's been fun, exciting, tough, frustrating, scary, thrilling, tiring, energizing, humbling and self-confidence building (and that's just our Mondays ;)) When I look back at all of the people we have helped over the years and the support we have received my heart fills with gradtitude. <3 #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy #privatepractice #pelvicfloor #postpartum #pregnancy #incontinence #pregnancycare #occupationaltherapy #pregnancyjourney #pelvicpain #pelvicfloordysfunction #elitepelvicrehab #elitespineandsportspt #smallbusinessowner #pain

With so much information on the internet it can be confusing to know what to do after prostate removal surgery. We see men all of the time after surgery Some quick tips to get you on track are:... 1 Follow your doctor’s instructions. Don’t lift if told not to lift yet (you can harm your surgical site). Rest when told to rest. Exercise when told to exercise. 2 When given the green light to exercise it’s important that the proper technique is followed and the right exercises are completed. Incorrect technique can do more harm than good. The same is true for the wrong exercises. 3 Kegels are only effective when done correctly for the right problem. In some cases the problem is an overactive pelvic floor and Kegels can make incontinence and pelvic pain worsen. 4 While starting the right program as soon as allowed creates the best outcome, it is never too late. We have seen men years (even decades) after surgery! #elitepelvicrehab #PROSTATE #prostatecancer #incontinence #pelvicpain #pelvicpt #prostatecancerawareness #kegel
