After almost a year, I have finally got to put up my artwork for my 20th exhibit which is located in the Moorestown Library. This time, this series of autism po...sters features the logos for each of the cuurent mummers string bands titled the "mummers series of autism". Although I will have to find some new galleries or libraries that will still display artwork during the pandemic so it will be awhile for me to get back on my feet with exhibits. But for now I would like for you all to enjoy this colorful exhibit that I got to put up. See more

Back 95 year's ago on February 4, 1926 nine men in the Southwest neighborhood of Philadelphia, PA organized the WOODLAND STRING BAND on the basis that it be a MEMBER owned and operated String Band. Today Woodland has the second longest continuous marching streak among the String Bands that march on New Year's Day. Never having missed a City sponsored parade and never disbanding and reorganizing. Some bands have older "established dates" but they have either missed parades or changed names as they reorganized. Woodland started as Woodland and 95 years later we celebrate those 9 men who had a vision that members could run their own band and not have a single owner.

This week's Featured Artist is David Jacobs-Strain! Hailing from Eugene Oregon, his years of solo shows from The Sierra Mountains of Nevada, to The Berkshire ra...nge of New England, have made him quite the stage performer. His outrageous guitar work jumps from wild finger style to slide, and a percussive style that produces enough drive to rival any full electric jam band. His voice carries an emotional intensity that his remarkably written songs demand. Some of his albums have been produced by some legendary producers such as Nashville's Ray Kennedy, (Steve Earle, Lucinda Williams, Ray Davies), and two releases were produced by Kenny Passarell, (Joe Walsh, Otis Taylor). His onstage work with artists like Taj Mahal, Bob Weir, Los Lobos, Etta James and Del McCoury speak volumes of how well respected he is within the music business. Boz Scaggs personally chose David to open two of his summer tours for him, and David Grisman invited him to appear on the Tone Poets Compilation release. I've personally been a fan of David Jacobs-Strain for a lot of years. His guitar skill and vocals are truly amazing! It's an honest treat to have him on the show! Tune in! See more

Woodland String Band 08.10.2020

This Thursday evening, instead of having a Featured Artist segment, we're celebrating the upcoming Philadelphia String Band Assn. Telethon which is scheduled fo...r Saturday November 14th. We'll have a greeting from the Association President Mr. Sam Regalbuto, and then, we will show the top five prize winning performances from last New Years Day. We have so many weekly viewers from all around the country and beyond, who see and hear the term Mummers, or hear us refer to the String Bands, but aren't quite sure what that entails so, tune in to review the best the Association had to offer this past New Years Day Parade! We think you're going to enjoy this one time change of format here on Mummers and Others! Tune in and enjoy the show! See more

This weeks Featured Artist is the Delaware County based band Three Fourteen! Within their first five years as a band they have played some pretty prestigious st...ages such as The Haverford Music Festival, The Ardmore Music Hall, World Cafe Live, The Queen, Philly’s 2nd Street Festival, Underground Arts, Parx Casino, Harrah’s Casino, 118 North, to name a few. They have shared bills with touring bands such as Splintered Sunlight, Bond & Bentley, Steal Your Peach, Old Soul Revival, Bumpin Uglies, Pasadena, as well as some of the best bands Philly has to offer. They're sets are more like a party most times, and their faithful following more like a family. I've had the pleasure of booking this band several times and trust me, they never disappoint! I practically wore out their first EP (self titled), and their latest single release "Steady Rain" was recorded at the infamous Philly Sound Studios. If you dig good rock with hints of reggae, soulful blues and top notch lyrics, you're gonna dig this band! Tune in for some serious good vibes! photo credit: Lunar Rayne Arts & Photography

This week's Featured Artist is Chris Zurich. From singing on New York City subway platforms, to lending vocals on Kanye records, Chris’s story has always been o...ne of radical contradictions. Born into a family with a mother who was once labeled one of the most dangerous minds in America, yet raised with a Quaker background, Chris’s life has been anything but ordinary. While first playing in punk and metal bands during his youth, Chris was discovered by a former opera star who noticed he possessed a world class vocal range. Through the natural evolution of his talent, Chris’s music today is indebted to classic soul and R&B, with a unique indie rock spirit that commands a certain presence on stage. It was probably 10 years ago when I first heard Chris perform. It was quite evident to my ears just how good he already was. Chris will point out that he's not a singer/songwriter, but a singer AND a songwriter. Wherever you choose to place him genre wise, one thing is certain. The dude is a flat out monster musically. Tune in this Thursday night and see for yourself. I'm pretty stoked for this one! See more
