Test your smoke alarms at least once a month. Make sure you have smoke alarms on every level of your home, even the basement. It is important to have them insi...de and outside all sleeping areas. If your alarm does not sound when you push the test button, replace the battery if you can. If you can't replace the battery, replace the alarm. Working smoke alarms are life savers. They give you time to escape a home fire.

When severe weather strikes, don’t use candles. Use flashlights for emergency lighting and stock up on batteries. #NationalPreparednessMonth

A fire’s heat alone can kill. In 5 minutes, a room can get so hot that everything in it ignites at once. Have working smoke alarms and a fire escape plan to help your family escape a home fire as quickly as possible. #PreparednessMonth
