Lake Baikal, located in Russia's southern Siberia area, is considered the largest freshwater lake (containing more water than all the American Great Lakes combined!) During the winter months, the temperature drops dramatically, and the surface of the lake freezes with ice thickness ranging from 1.6 feet to over 6 feet! Due to that thickness, people can drive and walk across the lake to take in the stunning frozen water views.
