In the spirit of information sharing and transparency I must regretfully inform the public that my wife and I have tested positive for Covid-19. We are quaranti...ning and will continue to do so for the duration of our illnesses and for a length of time that has been determined by medical professionals. Because of this quarantine, I will be unable to attend the upcoming city council meeting on February 9th. I will be participating in the meeting either by speakerphone or by using remote video capabilities. At the moment Alishia and I have mild to moderate symptoms, but I am especially concerned about her as she is 20 weeks pregnant. We expect to make a full recovery though, as so many people have done before us. Take care of yourselves. Better days are coming. -Mayor James A McDonald

Derrick City VFD held its annual appreciation dinner on Saturday night for members and their families. CJ’s Barbeque catered the dinner. Awards were provided to... the following: 45 yrs of service-Tom Skaggs & Bill Fargo. 40 yrs. of service-Lowell MacDonald, Mike Scrivo Sr., Sally Scrivo & Tina Yohe. 30 yrs of service - Jackie Carr. 5 yrs of service- Dave Greene, Kim Greene & Travis Moshier. Sierra Campbell was presented the Firefighter of the Year and Seth Geoff was presented the Bill Kenyon Training award. DCVFD thanked all members and their families for their time and dedication.
