Sometimes having that extra piece of equipment on the rig can make a difference. Pictured is a Task Force Tips jumbo low profile intake valve coupled up with a 6 90 degree elbow. While this may not be your go to at every hose lay operation, it does provide the option to get the LDH out of the roadway. The hose was well below the engine exhaust and at no time did it get hot let alone warm. The LDH elbow is also useful when setting up suction hose in a single lane tank o...peration. Know your equipment and be creative! See more

The beginning of any hose & nozzle evaluation process starts with a properly calibrated and maintained pitot tube and gauge. This simple tool allows the user to confirm the accuracy of their flow meters by measuring pressure across a fixed orifice nozzle. (GPM=29.71 x diameter squared x SQ RT of the Nozzle Pressure) USE A CHART OR APP FOR THIS !... At a minimum an annual gauge calibration is recommended as well as an inspection of the blade for wear and corrosion. Even after complete flushing with clean water one of our blades suffered damage from using the pitot in brackish/salty water. In addition constant use has worn the inlet opening down possibly compromising accuracy. The new blade is shown to compare the old and the new. For more information or a quote on a pitot tube kit with a N.I.S.T. calibrated gauge, please message us or send us an email. [email protected]

Today (June 26th) marked the completion of four days of hands on TurboDraft Fire Eductor training with the Perth Amboy Fire Department. Crews had the opportunity to operate and observe single as well as twin TurboDraft units for supplemental water supply operations. The use of tandem TurboDraft units yielded over 1,200 GPM of fire fighting water. While the TurboDraft has its place in rural fire operations, municipal departments can also benefit when local water supply syst...ems are overtaxed. Thank you to Battalion Chief Mike Zylka for coordinating the training with a local business located on the Raritan river and for the use of their property. Nice work by all! See more
