UPDATE AUGUST 28, 2020 - EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY Mascaro has removed the Yard Waste Collection Truck from the rear parking lot of the Township Building. Collections are returning to normal schedule. If your waste is not collected on the scheduled day - leave it out for collection the following day. Thank you.... Notice to Residents Collection of Household Trash, Recyclables and Yard Waste COVID -19 Pandemic Due to the effects of COVID 19, J. P. Mascaro & Sons has advised that there will be on-going delays in the collection of household trash, recycling and yard waste. The Township has been actively monitoring collections and communicating with Mascaro on a regular basis to insure that Mascaro is aware of any issues observed by the Township or reported by Township residents. Please continue to place these household trash, recycling and yard waste curbside as you normally would on the assigned days. Mascaro will pick up items as soon as they can in the following priority: Priority #1 - Household Trash For health and safety reasons, all household trash should be placed in bags, and preferably inside containers. Priority #2 - Household Recyclables - All recyclable materials should be placed loosely (not inside bags) inside clearly marked recycling containers; not outside or next to the container. All large recyclables, such as cardboard boxes, should be broken down to fit in the recycling containers. Priority #3 - Yard Waste Preferably, all yard waste should be placed in biodegradable bags. Please note that Yard Waste may be collected on weekends. Effective July 27, 2020 and until further notice (every Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm), a Mascaro Truck will be parked in the rear parking lot of the Township Building and available for drop off of yard waste. A Mascaro attendant will be present and residents will be requested to present identification to confirm residency in Upper Southampton Township prior to disposing of the yard waste. Yard Waste - Important information concerning future pick-ups J.P. Mascaro is requesting that all yard waste be placed in biodegradable paper bags effective Monday, July 20, 2020. By implementing this procedure, the hope is to be able to get back on track.

FREE DOCUMENT SHREDDING The Upper Southampton Police Officers Association is sponsoring a FREE shred event on Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM (or until the truck is full). The location is the parking lot behind the Fire Station, Street & Churchville Roads in Upper Southampton PA. Monster Doc Shred is providing a mobile shredding truck and people can witness their documents being destroyed, if they choose. ... This is the sixth time we have provided this free service to the community and it is a great opportunity to destroy documents that contain personal, identifying, or confidential information that can be misused or lead to identity theft. Please remember the following important reminders when celebrating this year: Fireworks cannot be discharged within 150 feet of any structure, regardless of whether a person is inside Discharging fireworks is prohibited on all public property, including streets, parks, schools and open spaces Fireworks cannot be discharged within or toward a motor vehicle or building, or directed toward another person, or by anyone under the influence of drugs or alcohol Fireworks cannot be discharged on private property without express permission of the property owner Consumer fireworks can only by purchased, possessed or used by a person 18 years of age or older HAVE A HAPPY, HEALTHY AND SAFE SUMMER!

Dear Residents: We are excited too! The Newtown Rail Trail is coming to fruition!... We recognize that there is a great deal of interest in the construction of the Newtown Rail Trail extending from County Line Road to Bristol Road in Upper Southampton Township. However, all residents are reminded that the Newtown Rail Trail is NOT open to the public yet. Although construction has not begun yet, we anticipate it starting in July which will result in construction vehicles and machinery becoming active along the trail route which will pose safety concerns. We wanted to take this opportunity to give everyone advance notice of these safety concerns and to remind residents that anyone who uses the trail during the construction period is not only trespassing but is potentially placing themselves at peril. While we recognize that construction has not started, we would still ask that people not utilize the trail corridor at this time. No trespassing signs will be placed along the corridor during the construction period. Due to the cancellation of public transportation from the Philadelphia area, Mascaro is experiencing a shortage of employees. For that reason, Upper Southampton Township will NOT have yard waste picked up this week. Thank you for your cooperation.

Upper Southampton Memorial Day Celebration Because of covid 19, The American Legion in Southampton must cancel its traditional Memorial Day ceremony. This is the first time since 1947 that we have had to cancel this public event. It is our hope that on this day, you will remember in your own way, those who gave their lives for our freedom. Due to the current situation regarding the COVID-19 Virus and complying with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Governors order to reopen the Construction Industry as of May 1, 2020, Upper Southampton Township will institute the Following procedure for permits and Inspections. To make application for Building or Zoning Permits you will need to download from the Upper Southampton Website, ustwp.org, the multi-page permit application. You will also find the Township fee schedule ...on this site as well. Currently applications will only be accepted via US mail or by dropping off at the Township building lobby where you will find a rack with a box to accept drop off materials. Payments must accompany the application to be accepted. (NO ENTRY TO THE LICENSES AND INSPECTIONS AREA WILL BE PERMITTED AT THIS TIME). Applications will be processed as quickly as possible but the time restrictions from the state UCC have been suspended. Inspections will be scheduled based on phone calls to 215-322-9700 x 122. Please call 24 hours prior to inspection request and we will do our best to get the inspection scheduled. All construction Guidance, policies, and procedures outlined by the Governor of Pennsylvania must be complied with. Failure to comply with these items will result in revocation of permits and penalties established in the enforcement section of the guidance from the Governor. At this time the playgrounds, restrooms and athletic amenities remain closed. Please observe social distancing guidelines and precautions while using the walking trails and in the parking areas.
