Last weekend the EAC opened up access to the trail along Chester Creek off Station Road. We battled poison ivy, ticks and sticker bushes and removed lots of brush. And this weekend's rain will provide ample water to our newly planted trees! We couldn't have planned it better ourselves. This type of activity provides immediate gratification. If this type of service sounds appealing to you, be on the lookout for and join us for our next trail event! #volunteering #EAC #thornbury #givebacktothecommunity

Always good to learn strategies so the the cure isn't worse than the problem.

If you are interested in planting the best plants for our environment, please visit your LOCAL nurseries that are knowledgeable about plants for our area. There are many around here.

If you missed the last Tree for Ten event, stay tuned because we are gearing up for another great event this spring! Thanks to the generosity of #PECO and #Thornbury Supervisors, who are subsidizing tree purchases for township residents to replace trees lost in past storms. Stay tuned for details!

Last weekend, the Thornbury EAC had a mini nursery set up on the grounds of the Thornton Farmer's Market and distributed pre-ordered trees to Thornbury residents. The "Tree for a Ten," (that's $10 a tree) program was subsidized through a grant from PECO and the Board of Supervisors of Thornbury township. Volunteers from the EAC unloaded and distributed over 150. If you missed out this year, watch your township email alerts for Part II in the spring! Photo credit: Gary Colyer.
