Sometimes the trip is more important than the destination. Sometimes the decision to embark on the trip is most important.
This Shabbat's reflection from Rabbi Audrey Korotkin: "The story of my family is the story of the Jewish family. It started with a "yes" and continued on to places unknown."
Wishing you and your loved ones a Shabbat shalom and a chag sameach.
On Sunday, October 4, the front yard at Temple Beth Israel was transformed into a "Tribute Garden" for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Virtual Walk 2020. Donations in honor of, or in memory, a loved one were acknowledged with posters that will remain up for the whole week, until the Virtual Walk itself on October 11, in which individuals, groups and teams will walk in various locations throughout the area, linked by an internet gathering that will be broadcast on the Making Strides of Central PA Facebook page. Information on how YOU can donate to the cause is on the link here from WTAJ TV, our media partner for Making Strides.
Rabbi Audrey promotes the upcoming Making Strides virtual walk:
Wishing our community a joyous celebration of Sukkot, the fall festival of booths as we remember the journeys of our ancestors, reflect on the fragility of life and connect to the change of seasons in the Land of Israel.
Rabbi Audrey Korotkin will be a guest on WTAJ's "814" show this afternoon at 4:30 to talk about plans for the upcoming Making Strides Against Breast Cancer "virtual" event on Sunday October 11.

In the conclusion to this year's series of High Holy Day sermons on Jewish history, survival and pride, Rabbi Dr. Audrey Korotkin concludes with a little-known story of triumph from medieval Jewry, and how this story inspires us today: Yom Kippur Morning 2020: The Story of Us and Love.
Through these High Holy Days, Rabb Dr. Audrey Korotkin has taken the inspiration of Jewish author and ardent Zionist Bari Weiss in her "I Am A Jew . . . Because" speech at a unity rally back in January, to create a series of sermons on "The Story Of Us." On Erev Yom Kippur, she shared "The Story of Us and Redemption"
G’mar Chatima Tova. May you be inscribed and sealed for blessing in the New Year.G’mar Chatima Tova. May you be inscribed and sealed for blessing in the New Year.
From Rabbi Audrey Korotkin: A few years ago, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, of blessed memory, offered a prayer for the nation at her great-nephew's bar mitzvah. It is so magnificent to hear her speaking these important words. This is shared by way of our colleagues in the Conservative Movement and with the permission of her family. Shabbat shalom, everyone.
