The days are LONGER! While it's not necessarily that much warmer, it won't be long... If you have been thinking about riding or taken time off and returning, please reach out ASAP as the program is full and the waitlist that will be scheduled based on order of request. Summer MAY open up some daytime spots once school is out, the sooner i know you're interested, the better! ... To be added to the waitlist, message me here, on my private messenger, or by using this registration. https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php
Tonight these gals cantered! They've been working hard at various skill building (even though it felt a lot like fun instead of work, I'm sneaky like that). The stars aligned. Sometimes the whole group isn't "there" quite yet. Sometimes a horse is being fresh and i have to manage that energy that my horse-team is bringing to the table, sometimes the kid is tired or stressed from things like a lock-down drill at school, sometimes I'm mumbling and they cant understand what ...in the world im talking about. Moving kids into canter takes so much preparation: horse training ( knows its job and can forgive its rider when they're only 45% correct), rider ability to control their bodies, a coachable kid attitude, group mates who can encourage each others efforts vs compete with each other, non windy day, no tractors or snow plows zooming around, anxious parents carefully sedated or distracted, etc....prime for someone like me who is prone to overthinking and also want to keep kids engaged and challenging themselves . Success! Way to go girls!
On today's episode of "How to improve your riding and simultaneously terrify your horse" And "Things I meant to do 3yrs ago"... We have a single mirror. Now you can check your position or at least see some of what i see when I'm helping change your position. I hope to have a full wall (short wall) at some point but this is what i have for now. This mirror was a wedding gift from Nate Woodring.
Ohhhh boy! After 8 weeks of being on pause, we are back into getting horses and riders working again. A few weeks of really helping riders to be thinking about how much their horse has to give, after their pasture puff living for 2 months... and sometimes i can feel the riders skepticism in their body language... until we see the gradual improvement that wasn't forced. We work to end our lessons with riders asking the question "does your horse feel stronger and/or more confident?". And that's when we know we did something right. Looking for those little wins takes a different kind of attitude. I'm so glad to have riders who want to learn to look at things this way, and be open to the slower, steady, strengthening, confident progress.
As a rider, I'm not superbly talented, however, I'm a "learner" and I keep striving and focusing and working toward always being better and better, putting in the time. https://www.facebook.com/78529421937/posts/10157823721181938/
A costumed group tonight!
EARLY HOLIDAY SHOPPING ALERT! Remember, if you'd like a winter edition shirt/sweatshirt, orders need to be in no later than FRIDAY Oct 30th! I forgot to put an order in for myself the last time, but I remembered this time! ... Don't miss out!
We want to make good, safe, and confident riders. That doesn't mean perfection, and boiled down, surely must mean that at the end of a ride that the heart, mind, and body of the horse and rider are stronger, more joyful, and grateful for the time spent together.
Since returning from vacation the days feel extra full! Yesterday's task was more fence building because a sassy mare who cant seem to respect anything but board fence strikes again. And I'm so glad to see my lesson riders after a week off! And my 2021 paper passion planner came yesterday too. Here's to a continued focus on working hard to create the life i want. Day by day!
Selfcare.... deluxe wheelbarrow i can push while holding a child.
Operation tack area organize is in full swing. Kaitlyn and mom went to Shedden's and scored some western saddle racks...
Reminder that shirt orders are due this week!
