To show our appreciation for the @pennmedicine frontline workers, this morning we delivered meals to employees at Pennsylvania Hospital, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP). Here is a look at how we did it... Thank you to all of our caring and dedicated team members at Starr who helped us prep, pack and deliver 1200 meals to local hospitals for the holiday. Have you ordered from our noodle bar yet?! A partnership between @serpicopter & @stephen.starr, Pete’s Place is not Korean. But its Chef is kinda. Pete’s Place is not Serpico. But its address is kinda. Simply put, Pete’s Place doesn’t fall into the common tropes that restaurant cuisines often do. When you restrict yourself to 100% innovative or 100% authentic, your perspective is limited so you play it safe. But safe doesn’t excite diners or inspire culinary trends, Pet...er Serpico does. Born in Korea then adopted and raised in the US by his Italian-American parents, Peter Serpico will be heading back to South Street to take the helm at Pete’s Place, the latest takeout and delivery-only concept from STARR Restaurants. Drawing inspiration from many sources, including his own background, Serpico’s menu for Pete’s Place is traditional, yet modern, playful, yet refined. It features everything from Korean fried chicken wings and chicken noodle soup, to tsukamen-style, buckwheat noodles, and broths all colliding in a delicate, yet delicious dance of less than 10 kinda-korean dishes. After the mandated COVID-19 restaurant shutdowns, on March 18th, 2020 we re-opened @pizzeria_stella in Philadelphia. Following that we re-opened a window on 18th street that sold only bread, wine & cheese from @parcrittenhouse - we launched a (now infamous) BOGO gift card campaign, we had bad ideas, we had great ideas, we wore masks, we ran marathons, @stephen.starr created a scholarship with the CIA, we created dinner packages for two or more, and we opened outdoor dining fo...r no more than four. Today, Wednesday, September 30th, 2020, marks the first day in 198 days that we have STARR restaurants open for at least 25% indoor dining in NYC, DC, Philly & Florida. It's been over 6 months of doing our best to keep our heads up even when there were relentless attempts at knocking us down, and our entire company here at STARR is proud to be part of an industry that against all odds is still standing today. We want to give a shoutout to our badass restaurant and hospitality industry friends who are also still fighting for their businesses, their employees, their families, their friends, and for making food in the cities they love.
