Renovation Continues in West Chester Music....getting closer, almost Carpet tile time!

Springfield Rehearsal Studio 25.10.2020

Albert Bien Twas the Week before Christmas Poem By Al & Clara Bien (Stolen from Clement Moore) Twas the week before Christmas and all through the store... Not an item was selling and there on the floor Were drum sets, guitar packs and items galore The suppliers were threatening to ship even more. The drum sticks were nestled all snug in the rack Guitar strings, capos and tuners were stacked The phone wasn’t ringing and the sales had been crap "Clara grab a smart eggnog, come sit in my lap" When out in the lot there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my stool to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tripped on my laces and knocked over the trash The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below. When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a Baptist Church Minister drawing quite near With a fistful of fifties and the promise of more He walked from his van to the front of my store. And rumbling and stumbling he came through my door And he cursed, and shouted, and stomped on the floor! That BJ’s! That, Target! That, Best Buy or K-Mart! That Sam Ash! Amazon Ebay or Walmart! I’ve been to them one! I’ve been to them all! They can go away! Go away Go away all!" Their sales staff is clueless, they don’t know a thing Their guitars need a setup, and they don’t change the strings Good luck if it’s broken and don’t ask how things work Their service is worthless, the owners are jerks Then he said to me kindly, you look rather pensive, Mind if I buy something large and expensive A keyboard, a flute, a sax and trombone I’d like to give this mangy bass anew home He gave me some cash and a credit card too a check from the church and when he was through he yelled from his van as he drove out of sight Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

The retail season is about to begin. Here is a poem I refashioned! Twas the week before Christmas and all through the store Not an item was selling and there on... the floor Were drum sets, guitar packs and items galore The suppliers were threatening to ship even more. The drum sticks were nestled all snug in the rack Guitar strings, capos and tuners were stacked The phone wasn't ringing and the sales had been crap "Clara grab a smart eggnog, come sit in my lap" When out in the lot there arose such a clatter, I sprang from my stool to see what was the matter. And mumbling and stumbling he came through my door And he cursed, and shouted, and stomped on the floor! "That BJ's! That, Target! That, Best Buy or K-Mart! That Sam Ash! Or Best Buy, or Ebay or Walmart! I've been to them one! I've been to them all! They can go away! Go away Go away all!" Their sales staff is clueless, they don't know a thing Their guitars need a setup, and they don't change the strings Good luck if it's broken and don't ask how things work Their service is worthless, the owners are jerks Then he said to me kindly, "you look rather pensive, Mind if I buy something large and expensive A keyboard, a flute, a sax and trombone I'd like to give this mangy bass a new home." He gave me some cash and a credit card too a check from the church and when he was through he yelled from his van as he drove out of sight "Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!"

Springfield Music Store will be open today Noon to 4:00 PM. Many deals to be had, lots of closeout items. We are getting ready for band rental season and must get rid of many things so we can function. 12 pounds of stuff in a 2 pound bag.

Grab a quick bowl of cereal then off to the warehouse to make room for more junk. Nice and quiet in there and kind of soothing part of the day. We will be open after noon if you would like to buy any closeout stuff.

It is amazing how time keeps moving on. Clara is on her new schedule, a two day work week. I will go get some Wawa coffee for us and think about how to get rid ...of so much excess retail stuff in my store. I think I am going the way of the dinosaur. Maybe they were too big and stupid to adapt. Who knows, maybe it was a meteor, an ice age, the dinosaur plague or who knows what. I have one month left to move a mountain of stuff out of a storefront in the Springfield Music Store. Actually the stuff is in The Guitar Place. We have already moved the guitars down to the main store. That was fairly painless. They are in a smaller place but nicely organized, easy to see and try. We will be making shelving thanks to Chris Adams to best use the remaining space in the main store. Using available space near the ceiling and getting the rest of the area prepared for some real nice large show cases. The rest of the stuff will not be so easy. In the basement of the space we are moving out of is an accumulation of years of junk of closing out music stores. Oddball fixtures, tools and things like that. And junk. Mixing boards and amps that were too old or too big or too broken to be fixed or sold. And I kept them in the hopes that someone might want them and my hoarding nature....dinosaur mentality. And 4X12" guitar cabinets left over when the mentality was bigger is better. I have a dozen of those. For anyone that thinks size still matters...I have a bunch of very nice big and heavy guitar cabinets. Please feel free to stop by. And if you need a drum rim please note that I may have what you need. As well as maybe 400 to 500 others that you may not need, once again please feel free to stop by. And the sheet music a silly amount of it. How can you not want this stuff at a silly low price. I closed out a wholesale music distributor and have scads of classical piano, guitar tablature books, books from musicals, classical flute, clarinet and oboe and what have you books. One month left to sell this stuff before I need to move it to the warehouse. I would rather sell this stuff than move it. Today the clearance signs go up. Everything must be moved out of the old guitar place by May 31st. Help me help me! See more
