To top it off, almost half of 25-year-olds with autism have never held a paying job. Services like the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support Bridge program are essential to ensure adults with autism are given the tools needed for their most independent and fulfilling futures. The Kinney Center’s College Bridge program gave our son, Seamus, a unique opportunity after high school to refine the social and behavioral skills expected of college students. Navigating the campus at Saint Joseph’s University, learning the practical aspects of getting to and attending a class, buying lunch in the (loud) student cafeteria, and having the many other everyday college experiences were invaluable for him. The way the Kinney Center staff tailored his program to ...his strengths and needs was especially important, as was the emphasis on developing independence. We are happy to support the Kinney Center College Bridge program and believe this type of creative and individualized support was crucial in preparing Seamus for his first year at the University of Iowa. - Ted and Noreen Abel Help young adults like Seamus live their most independent lives by supporting the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support today! crowdfunding.sju.edu/kinney

Did you know that the first 30 to 40 students in 1851 went to class from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday? They had 4 teachers and a choice of 2 courses of study from the classics department and the commercial department. They were a small but mighty number that grew to over 90 in a year! SJU has grown significantly since then much of that can be attributed to your support in funding opportunities for today’s 7,000+ current Hawks. Support the Saint Joseph’s Fund today and Be in that Number as you help unlock $50K! crowdfunding.sju.edu/saint-josephs-fund/
