Swing and a miss!
Finished up this Instrument Innovations rotor section replacement on a Bach 42 trombone. Quite a challenging project. Also had to make new trigger linkage.
Wrapped up the repairs on this Boston Musical Instrument Manufactory alto in Eb. As best I can figure it was made between 1869 and 1902.. If someone has more info, or a correction on the dates, feel free to chime in.
On occasion some oddities with interesting backstories are brought in. This wall hanging called The Tree of Life was found, in many, MANY pieces while my customer was metal detecting way back in the woods. He managed to find 95% of the pieces and I agreed to put it back together for him. Still a little bit of cleanup from all the soldering, but it is pretty much done. It’s nearly 3 feet wide and 26 tall.
It’s french horn Friday!!

The week is off to a great start.
Built in 1925, this Conn trombone is still being used regularly.
Monday morning dent work.
This faithful machine logs a lot of hours in the shop.
Made this bracket modification for a customer that wanted the levers to be lower and closer for an easier reach. Finished the bracket with a scratched brass finish to match the horn.
This old Couesnon was a bit of a challenge and has had a hard life, for sure. Disassembled, dents removed, reassembled, ready for a chem clean and back in the trenches it goes.
Made a patch for a heavily used Bach Strad trumpet 2nd slide.
Kids can be so cruel. This french horn has seen some front line action, but lives on to play another day.
Typical marching band stuff.
