Our heartfelt condolences to our brothers and sisters at the University of Pittsburgh and the family/friends of Detective Carmack. Detective Carmack was a resident of Scott Township and sadly is no longer able to answer the call. May he rest in peace, and those who are left behind find solace in a life all too short, spent improving the lives of those around him.

Avoid Vanadium Road if at all possible. Traffic is at a gridlock. Please find alternate routes.

PLEASE remember to lock your car doors at night. It’s not that your neighborhoods aren’t safe or go without patrols, it’s that there are people who will come into quiet neighborhoods at night and open any unlocked vehicle doors to take whatever you leave for them. Thank you!

The police department has issued solicitation permits to Aptive Environmental LLC which is a pest control company. Twenty four (24) applications were submitted and approved. They will be soliciting in the Township and should be in possession of laminated Scott Township permits which have a photo on them (See Photo). Please ask to see the permit if you are unsure of who is at your door. Also, please report any inappropriate activity to the police department by calling 911 so an officer can respond.

This morning the Scott Township Police Department served a search warrant on a home in Scott Township for narcotics. This department received numerous complaints in regards to drug activity at this particular residence. Following an investigation, police were able to execute the search warrant. Tristan Klimas of Scott Township was subsequently taken into custody. He was charged with several drug related crimes after finding suspected heroin, suspected crystal meth, suspecte...d THC wax, several hundred dollars in cash, several cellular phones, and drug paraphernalia in the home. Tristan Klimas was arraigned on the drug charges and given a $25,000 strait bond and transported to the Allegheny County Jail. As always, if you see any suspicious activity going on in your neighborhood, call the police. Our goal is to keep every neighborhood within Scott Township as safe as we can. We cannot do this without the help of our residents and this in particular case today proves just that! See more

This morning, a concerned citizen passed along a text message she received stating that her Carry Certificate (License to Carry) was to expire in seven days, ...followed by a link. The Sheriff’s Office's entire license to carry process is done in-person and we do not send a text message to residents about their expiration date. If you receive a text message similar to the attached photo, please disregard and do not respond or click the link, as it is NOT the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, the Federal Trade Commission suggests that you block such numbers to avoid scam attempts.

On 10/5/2020, in the early morning hours, there were several unlocked vehicles entered, items stolen, and vehicles stolen. This occurred off of Vanadium Rd and Bower Hill Rd area. Let this be yet another reminder to please lock your vehicle at all times, especially when you have valuables inside. Also if you leave your keys inside your unlocked vehicle, it will more than likely be stolen. When criminals are provided the opportunity to steal a vehicle, they use these stolen ...vehicles in more serious crimes. Bottom line, if you LOCK YOUR VEHICLE, you will probably not be a victim. Sincerely, Scott PD

We're getting numerous complaints about parking on the sidewalks in the Glendale portion of Scott Township. We've always understood that parking can be at a premium there and officers have used discretion in enforcement. Having said that, when the complaints come we have to enforce the laws written to protect the pedestrian traffic. Several streets were issued parking tickets known as "courtesy tags" to make people aware of the complaints and hopefully rectify the issue. Vehicles will be permitted to be partially on sidewalks as long as pedestrian traffic (walkers, wheel chairs, etc etc...) can get through. Please be courteous to those neighbors who prefer not to walk on the street and leave them room. Do not obstruct the roadway for emergency vehicle traffic.
