SALISBURY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT STATION 618 11.12.2020

The Salisbury Fire Department would like to give a very big thank you to everyone who helped us on the fire this morning. Large fires and devastating incidents, like the one we faced this morning, really show what a great community and county we live and serve in. We would like to thank all of the fire departments that were on scene, as well as, the ones who provided stand by at our neighboring stations so they were not left without coverage. Thank you to the wives, auxiliary members, and local businesses that provided hot food, coffee and drinks. This made our cold morning not so cold. None of what we do would be possible without the help and support we have from our neighboring fire departments and all of you. Thank you again to everyone involved. We couldn’t have done it without you.

The Mt. Davis Gravel Grinder is back for the 4th consecutive year! This is a gravel road bicycle race from Addison Pennsylvania. The 53-mile long course with ov...er 40 miles of gravel and 6'000 accumulative vertical feet will take you up and over the highest point in the State, Mount Davis. Come for the challenge and stay for the fun! The name says it all. Will you be one of the Quick (fast) or one of the Dead (not so fast)? See more

See these? Do you know what they are and what they represent? They are the shoes of volunteer firefighters.... They are the comfortable shoes, worn at home, running errands, taking the dog out, raking the leaves. They were shed without hesitation to don heavy uncomfortable boots and bunker gear designed to offer at least some protection from fire, broken glass, and jagged metal. Clothing whose sole purpose is to protect..... those who protect you. Local guys. They work in the oil patch, the local ag supplier, trucking company, phone company or area farms. Some are even retired but just not smart enough to stay that way. They leave their wives, children, parents or whomever to come to complete strangers aid. 12 noon, 3pm, 2 am, it makes no difference. And their families want little more than to see them put their shoes back on at the end of the call. There are no words to describe the task of picking up that pair of shoes after a call, knowing the man or woman who put them there will not be returning to do it themselves. Pay attention. Get off the fricking phone. Move over. Help them put their shoes back on

After careful thought and deliberation, the officers and the members of our dept., Agreed that we're will not be having bingo until at least the 1st of the year. With the steady increase of covid patients, in and around our community, we feel it's best to postpone and see what happens until the new year. We are still here to serve you in your time of need, and always will be! As an organization, we feel it's our duty to protect the residents of this community, and not to put people in danger. Thank you for your understanding. We will keep everyone updated on when we will resume! Keep safe during these uncertain times. Sincerely, Station 618
