As Queen Consort of Portugal, Elizabeth prayed for decades for her husband's conversion (which eventually occurred). After his death, she retired to become a Franciscan, but still left her convent to stop a war from occurring between her royal family members.

Today we celebrate and thank God for the freedoms we enjoy. Happy Independence Day!

In today's Gospel, the people of Nazareth simply cannot fathom how Jesus, who lived among them as a child, can be a prophet ... or even something greater; the Son of God.

That's right, Mother Cabrini wouldn't take "no" for an answer! She trusted fully in God's grace, and He did not disappoint. He gave her the strength to become a saint.
