What are the benefits of SCRAPING therapy? Scraping is a soft tissue mobilization technique that helps to aid your body in healing from muscle and soft tissue injuries. Muscle scraping can drastically improve the state of soft tissue fibers to relieve inflammation and chronic pain for conditions like tennis elbow or injuries often found in runners and athletes. The soft tissue of the body includes the skin, fascia, muscles, tendons, and ligaments which are basically made up ...of fibers. When healthy, these fibers are mostly aligned in a parallel, organized fashion, can slide back and forth and over each other and against each other when we move or stretch. When these fibers are unorganized, twisted, tangled, or adhered to each other, they can lose their mobility and flexibility. The fibers can then become stiff, influencing movement dysfunctions and prompting pain. Generally, the scraping tool attempts to direct muscle and soft tissue to be realigned in its natural and correct anatomical state. This practice can help release and remodel scar tissue and soft tissue adhesions due to repetitive trauma or injury. Scraping can significantly improve blood perfusion volume, promoting local blood circulation to increase muscle temperature. These physiological reactions will allow for greater joint range of motion, enhance musculotendinous extensibility, inducing a healing response to minimize pain and inflammation. Do not be alarmed of the aesthetic appearance during and shortly after a treatment session. There may be a presence of petechiae, or redness of the skin, often indicating a restart of the healing process. Be sure not to spend more than 20-30 seconds on a specific area to achieve optimal relief. This technique may be performed 3-4 times a week on non-consecutive days. This will allow for ample recovery and adaptation. Be smart, gentle and consistent. The results can be remarkable.
Are balance and stability the same thing? Not quite. I would say balance is your ability to control your body without movement against gravity while stability is your ability to control your body during movement. This means you can get better at balance while still having poor stability. That said, manipulating your training program with selective drills and exercises that challenge your stability can certainly translate to improving your balance. #restorative#corrective#functional
People only change when the prospect of not changing is more painful than to change.People only change when the prospect of not changing is more painful than to change.
Great article expressing the importance of routine stretching and the impact it has on our physical and emotional freedoms. #stretchandgrow https://www.washingtonpost.com//64ad3682-ee28-11ea-ab4e-58
Keeping these two muscles in good working order will certainly retain healthy biomechanics. https://corewalking.com/the-balancing-act-of-the-psoas-a//
