As we get closer to the holiday season many of us may be baking breads, pies or other tasty treats. Regardless of how much we bake this season, most of us prob...ably will not out pace the historic production of this anthracite coal fire oven on exhibit at the Anthracite Heritage Museum. The founders of Lucci's Bakery, Paolo and Anna Lucci, installed this oven in 1928. Serving the bakery from 1928 to 1979, the oven was fueled by anthracite coal which heated the oven brick by brick. The oven could produce over 2,700 loaves of bread a day. Over its 51 year life span it is estimated to have produced 50 million loaves of bread.
