Harmful algal blooms are on the rise in aquatic systems around the world. These overgrowths of cyanobacteria, or blue-green algae, can produce toxicand even deadlyeffects on people, pets, wildlife, and marine life. Our own Dr. Sarah Princiotta, assistant professor of biology, is battling this environmental danger through research that aims to understand the interactions of microscopic marine algae in an effort to predict and control these deadly aquatic blooms.
