Staff Spotlight Doug Turner Recovery Support Specialist... - Spends time with each client individually to make sure they feel welcomed and supported. - Works with Clinical and Operations staff to ensure our clients receive quality care in a safe environment. In Doug's words: Hi, I'm Doug Turner. I am 50 years old from Levittown, PA and I have a clean date of 2/19/2016. Four and a half years ago I was lost and homeless, my desperation brought me to my knees. After people in rehab loved me when I couldn't love myself, I got involved with a 12-step program and took some suggestions. I began to rebuild my life and with roughly 18 months clean I started volunteering and working in the treatment field. I had found my calling, helping people feeds my soul, it makes me happy. I feel blessed to work with such a passionate group of people. Recovery and helping people comes first here at Peace Valley Recovery.

Check out our most recent blog post: Covid-19 may be changing the world as we know it, but the U.S. opioid epidemic never went away, and never let up. Now, a recent study by medical researchers at the University of Pennsylvania has uncovered the alarming rate at which excessive and high-dose opioid prescriptions are being routinely written post-surgery for patients after a common outpatient procedure. https://www.peacevalleyrecovery.com/bl/opioid-pennsylvania/

At Peace Valley Recovery our programming includes a range of holistic therapies when appropriate, one of them being Shamanic Breathwork. This breathwork technique can be a powerful tool for transformation. The deep breathing is meant to help reach lower chakras and take a person to the edge, with unexpected emotions arising. The energetic healing and shifting allows you to break out of old programming, patterns, and habits. During these breathwork sessions, our clients listen to chakra attuned music along with drumming and rattling that help to induce a trance like theta brainwave which reaches the subconscious mind. If you have questions about shamanic breathwork or would like to learn more about Peace Valley Recovery, please call (215) 780-1953.

Peace Valley Recovery's Admissions Coordinator Per Hagen helped lead an Adventure Recovery yoga hike with partner Synchronicity Recovery this past Saturday. The adventure took place at Trexler Nature Preserve just outside of Allentown PA. The group began the day with meditation and guided Y12SR yoga, followed by a hike through Trexler Nature Preserve. While hiking, the group was asked to find something in nature that represented their recovery journey and to share what it meant. It was a beautiful day despite the snow flurries in May! If you or a loved one are struggling with substance use disorder, please call us at (215) 780-1953. We are here to help.
