Others living in the home with the individual awaiting test results should also stay at home. The department has additional instructions for individuals waiting for a COVID-19 test result. Individuals who test positive will receive a phone call from AMI while individuals who test negative will receive a secured-PDF emailed to them from AMI. Waiting instructions are available here: https://www.health.pa.gov//COVID-19%20Patient%20Instructio Testing sites will change each week over the next eight weeks so that 61 counties will eventually be covered by dedicated pop-up testing sites over a 12-week period.

Leather Corner Post Hotel, 6855 Horseshoe Road, Orefield PA, was built in 1861, by Jacob George. Shortly before the Civil War, a tannery existed near the hotel,... as did a post for the hitching of horses, which explains the name of the village. After George died it was sold to John Bear in 1882. Today it is a restaurant where patrons entertain each other playing the Boom-ba. See more

News Release from Lehigh County December 28, 2020 Volunteer Fire Organizations And EMS Awarded Relief Funding ... Lehigh County, PA- A resolution was recently passed by the Lehigh County Board of Commissioners that will award volunteer fire organizations and Lehigh County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) an estimated $567,400 in COVID-19 relief funding. Resolution 2020-82 was organized by Commissioner At-Large Bob Elbich who proposed that the surplus monies from the $33.3 million COVID-19 County Relief Block Grant benefit the county’s fire companies and EMS services. These organizations continue to serve on the frontlines alongside our county’s ambulances and healthcare workers, and are in need of equipment among other critical supplies. Funding from this resolution will go towards obtaining decontamination equipment, PPE, and backup turnout gear that will allow firefighters to keep up with the COVID-19 response in their areas. The resolution was unanimously approved by the Board of Commissioners with full support from Lehigh County Executive Phil Armstrong and his administration. As a result, and after careful consideration, funding has been immediately distributed to these organizations in the following allotments: Emmaus Fire Department--$31,500 Germansville Fire Company--$28,000 Weisenberg Volunteer Fire Department--$37,500 New Tripoli Fire Company--$33,300 Slatington Volunteer Fire Department--$24,000 Macungie Fire Company--$15,560 Catasauqua Fire Department--$30,000 Neffs Volunteer Fire Company--$20,000 All Departments and Lehigh County Emergency Response Digital Data-- $101,000 South Whitehall Regional Fire Companies (Woodlawn, Cetronia, and Greenawalds) -- $83,150 Schnecksville Fire Company--$24,000 Eastern Salisbury Fire Department--$15,000 Western Salisbury Fire Company--$31,000 TriClover Fire Company--$18,300 Lynnport Fire Company--$15,000 Emerald Fire Company--$15,000 Slatedale Fire Complany--$15,000 Friedens Fire Company-- $15,000 Additionally, Lehigh County EMS will receive a mobile software application, CrewForce, a companion app that communicates the county’s existing Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. This app, which will be available on smartphones and tablets in all county emergency vehicles, will allow Fire and EMS workers to view in real-time all critical information regarding the incident scene and any reported hazards, such as COVID-19. This real-time information will allow for patient confidentiality, along with streamlining the process of notifying the first responders of hazards that may place their safety at risk. Currently, Lehigh County volunteer fire and emergency medical providers must contact the 9-1-1 Communications Center by telephone to be provided these critical details. With the help of this new technology, Lehigh County EMS and local fire organizations will be able to streamline the communications process more efficiently and effectively when responding to a situation. It is through the hopes of Resolution 2020-82 that local fire organizations and county EMS services receive the financial support they need as they continue to carry out their services to the public. The County of Lehigh commends these organizations for their dedicated service throughout the year and is honored to award these funds. ###

After a few days of e-learning with Officer Bill, Lt. Nickischer quickly realized that those in-school days for students with last names starting with M-Z simpl...y couldn't come fast enough. All kidding aside, we want to wish all of our Upper Macungie students a safe and successful 2020-2021 school year. We also can't thank our local teachers and district administrators enough for all of their efforts to educate our young learners while also prioritizing their safety. Your dedication to our children is very much recognized and appreciated. Special thanks to Parkland School District Transportation for being great sports and helping us with our 2020 "Back-to-School" photo shoot! #committedtoservice

4 candles burning so softly, you could hear them talking quietly. The first candle, the candle of PEACE, said, "The world is full of anger, no one can keep me ...lit." It went out completely. The second candle, the candle of FAITH, said, "I am no longer indispensable. I cannot stay lit." And went out. The third candle, the candle of LOVE, spoke, "People don't understand my importance and have put me aside. They let differences come between those who are dearest to them." It extinguished. A child entered the room and saw the three unlit candles. "Why aren't you burning, you are supposed to stay lit until the end?" And the child started to cry. The fourth candle, the candle of HOPE, answered, "Don't be afraid, I am HOPE. While I am still burning, I can relight the other three candles. The child took the candle of HOPE and lit the extinguished candles. The greatest of these gifts is LOVE, but HOPE should never leave your life. With HOPE, each of us can have PEACE, FAITH, and LOVE. Have HOPE and let God's light shine through you. God Bless. See more
