"Why isn't my child writing letters yet?" This week #TeamPAAC had a training by one of our OT's Dr. Amy Henry about the importance of pre-writing activities. We learned how the brain makes more connections making letters and shapes when a sensory component is added such as Play-Doh, shaving cream, or finger-paint. In the training our staff learned the steps a child should take prior to writing letters. ... writing horizontal, vertical, curved, and diagonal lines writing X and + writing basic shapes (triangle, square, circle) Next we trace our shapes and letters, then copy, then we write on our own! Ms. Maria has a great activity to try this holiday season, Salt Ornaments! This is so easy to make and is a lot of fun. You will need: - 1 cup flour - 1/2 cup salt - 1/2 cup cold water - rolling pin (you can use a cup if you don’t have one!)... - cookie cutters - this recipe makes 5-6 ornaments. This a great activity to do! You can really challenge your kids by having them write the steps down before they make them too! Tag us so we can see all of your great work!! We look forward to it
