Our month of Special Event weekends continues this weekend as we welcome our friends from the Confederation of Union Generals! If you’ve never had the chance to see this talented group of presenters, you won’t want to miss them! Presentations at 1:00 each day! Many notable women and men from Civil War History will be represented, including: Clara Barton - Civil War Nurse and founder of the American Red Cross Louisa May Alcott - Civil War Nurse and author of several notable... books including the classic Little Women Pauline Cushman - Spy for the Union Army Dr. Mary Walker - Civil War surgeon, abolitionist, and women’s rights advocate. Only female recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor. Lilly Devereux Blake - author and women’s rights activist Marie Tepe (French Mary) - Vivandier with the 27th and 114th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry General Ambrose Burnside - Promoted to command of the Army of the Potomac following his performance at the Battle of Antietam. Commanded Union forces at Fredericksburg and later Petersburg.m, where he was in command the Corps responsible for the attack known as The Crater General Nathaniel Banks - Commander of Union forces during the Shenandoah Valley campaign. General Winfield Scott - Hero of the War of 1812, commanding General of the U.S. Army from 1841 - 1861, and responsible for the Anaconda Plan Major George Thomas - Notable and gifted commander from the Western Theater of the war General Dan Sickles - Despite his blunders at Gettysburg, Sickles is responsible for the founding of Gettysburg National Military Park General Abner Doubleday - Fired the first shot in defense at Ft. Sumter, served at many other notable battles included Gettysburg. Gouverneur K. Warren - Commander of the 5th Corps, Army of the Potomac. Referred to "Hero of the little Round Top" General John Hartranft - Read the death warrant to the Lincoln Conspirators General Henry J. Hunt - Artillery commander for the Army of the Potomac. General Frederick Townsend - Western Theater leader from New York. Henry Halleck - Referred to by Grant as one of the greatest men of the age. General in Chief of the Army in 1862.

Tomorrow, May 15, 2021 marks Armed Forces Day! To celebrate and thank those to whom we owe an unable debt, we would like to offer military service members, both active duty and retired, half-off their admission with a paid guest on Saturday, May 15 and Sunday, May 16. The weather looks beautiful, so bring your picnic lunch and spend the day with us!

It’s so nice to be able to welcome students back to the Village for school trips! We know that for many of you, this is where you first discovered Old Bedford Village! These 4th graders had a great time learning and exploring today! (All COVID safety protocols were followed by the students and our staff!)

Celebrate Mom this weekend at Old Bedford Village! Our Village is the perfect place to make memories together! Moms get 1/2 off admission with a paid admission for another member of your party! This review from last weekend is a perfect example of the fun that awaits your family! ... Great opening weekend! I enjoyed sharing my childhood memories with my little ones now.
