Tonight and tomorrow are the last 2 days to support Northwest EMS by purchasing a Dinner or Meal Basket from Manheim Twin Kiss. Why cook at home when you can let the staff at Twin Kiss do that for you? And with this weather, an ice cream treat sounds like the perfect ending to your meal.

Today's EMS Week theme focuses on child safety. Northwest EMS is a Master Level EMS For Children Provider. Participation in the program is voluntary and as a Master Level provider, we must: - Demonstrate that our ambulances are equipped with additional pediatric equipment and devices above what is normally required - Show proof that all providers have submitted to the Pennsylvania Childline background check process (Being fully compliant with all State and Federal Backgroun...d checks as mandated by Act 15) - Show proof that all providers have successfully completed at least 4 credits of pediatric-related continuing education annually - Provide a minimum number of education and prevention education or outreach opportunities in their communities that focus on the health, welfare and safety of children While we are doing our part, are you? - Are you using the right car seat for your child? - Is the car seat properly secured in your vehicle? - Do you properly buckle your children in to the car seat each time? Today would be a great day to check out the American Trauma Society's website and learn more about car seat safety. http://www.pasafekids.org//2020/08/car-seat-law-faqs-17.pdf

It's Tuesday of EMS Week which means our focus is on Safety. Every day EMS responds to patients who have fallen. There are many factors for adult falls, most of which are preventable. Simple modifications in your home and an understanding of what may be contributing to falls is the first step to reducing falls. Northwest EMS is here to serve our community in more ways than being your 911 ambulance service. Contact us to learn more about some of the safety and prevention initiatives we provide by calling or emailing our Community Outreach Manager, Lori Shenk, at 717-371-8282 or [email protected].

Things got a little competitive, but in the end it was... Team Stewart and Blackburn taking 1st place (with a little help from Riggs) Team Wright and Mumma taking 2nd place... Team Guringo and EMT student Taylor Crawford taking 3rd place Great job all!

Having a little fun during EMS Week. The first set of EMT students in our EMS Academy are nearly ready to test and we thought they deserved a break from the usual intensity of learning and skill building. A cookout and corn hole tournament was just the break we all needed. Even Riggs, (a 5 month old K9 in training owned by one of our crew members) came for some fun.

From all of us at Northwest EMS - Merry Christmas!

Northwest EMS 29.11.2020

Crews in all our stations ate well today, thanks to the generous donation of a hot meal from Elizabethtown resident, Stacie Carole Wagner and delivered with the help of Scott Boyer. These expressions of support are appropriated by all.

One simple toy. That's all it might have been. But know that your donation of one simple toy most definitely will bring a bit of Christmas Joy where there would not have been any. On December 8th, Northwest EMS delivered over 50 boxes filled with toys, and since then, we've continued to receive donations, FILLING four more boxes! The last delivery to the Toys For Tots warehouse was made on Saturday and from the information shared with us by the coordinators of Toys For Tots..., one simple toy can make all the difference. We hope you enjoy this video of just one of those toys on its journey to bringing a child Christmas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQIHas2VAvw&feature=youtu.be We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!

The end of an era. Today Paramedic Brad Anderson worked his last shift in EMS, retiring after more than 31 years. In those 31 years, Brad worked for several EMS and fire agencies, always giving his patients the best. Brad, thank you for serving Northwest EMS, and the community, as if each patient was a family member. The Elizabethtown and Maytown crew certainly outdid themselves in giving you a proper send off. Best wishes in all your future endeavors.

The Trunk-Or Treat event at Northwest Regional Police Department with Elizabethtown Borough Police, the Elizabethtown Fire Company and Northwest EMS was well attended! Enjoy these pictures!

Well done LCWC!

Northwest EMS 24.10.2020

It was a very festive Teal Pumpkin trick-or-treat at our Manheim Station. Jesse (aka, Paramedic Lisa Latsha) had glow sticks and goody bags with non-food items to give those with food allergies (and those just wishing to not have as much candy and sugar) in their trick-or-treat bag. Well we were not able to capture pictures of the trick-or-treaters, we did have about 20 children stop by.

Northwest EMS 17.10.2020

This is why we keep pushing the SLOW DOWN MOVE OVER message. Thankfully the responders were paying attention and could get safely out of the way. Tonight is the perfect night to stay home and off the roads.

Northwest EMS 08.10.2020

Tonight's the night! For those trick-or-treaters in the Elizabethtown area, be sure to stop at the Northwest Regional Police Department (8855 Elizabethtown Road) between 6 and 8 PM. Unless you think it will be too frightful for you.

Northwest EMS 22.09.2020

Did you know... - 32 Million Americans are living with potentially life-threatening food allergies?... - Between 2007 and 2016 there's been a 377% increase in the diagnosis of anaphylactic reactions (life-threatening reactions) - EVERY 3 MINUTES A FOOD ALLERGY SENDS SOMEONE TO AN EMERGENCY ROOM! The rain is moving out and our Teal Pumpkins are moving in! Bring those ghost, goblins, princesses and superheroes trick-or-treating at our Manheim station at 60 W Colebrook Street tonight between 6 and 8 PM. National First Responder Appreciation Day is the perfect day to share this brand-new FB page! The Move Over Pennsylvania page is a page that we are encouraging everyone to visit and to "like" and "follow" it. The point of point of the page is to promote awareness to the new Pennsylvania Move Over Law and is dedicated to the 151 Pennsylvania Emergency Responders that have been struck & killed & the hundreds of others that have been struck & injured while helping others. This is not a page for just first responders! Please, visit the page, like and follow it, and share it with your friends. The more we can educate the public and encourage them to MOVE OVER and SLOW DOWN, the better chance we all of of going home safely. WE ALL JUST WANT TO GO HOME!

Northwest EMS 06.09.2020

Congress designated October 28th as National First Responders Day in 2017. The resolution honors the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and all those who are first on the scene in stressful situations. To all our staff at Northwest EMS - thank you today and everyday, for being that calm presence in the face of chaos and stress.

Over the weekend, Conoy BIC Church (1722 Bainbridge Rd) hosted their annual Fall Fest event and invited the local emergency service agencies to stop by. Perfect weather! Food! Fun! It looks like everyone had a great time.

A few weeks ago we shared with you a cardiac arrest event at Root’s Market. Following that event, we encouraged the bystanders who responded and provided CPR prior to our arrival, to contact us to learn more about CPR and Stop The Bleed education and the critical life-saving skills everyone should know. Tonight, one of those individuals (Jennifer Kreider - front right) took us up on that offer and brought her Youth Group with her. It certainly was not the typical weekly y...outh group meeting (and they clearly had fun while learning.) The day after a tragedy is not the day to learn the simple skills that can save a life. We’re still limiting education and the number of people in our training rooms, but classes can be scheduled as long as we can coordinate the appropriate space to do so for the size of your group. Contact us to learn more.

It's official! Our Manheim station is an official Teal Pumpkin participant! Bring your trick-or-treater to our station at 60 West Colebrook Street (Manheim) on Friday, between 6 PM and 8 PM, for a non-food treat.
