Our residents were treated to an outdoor concert this afternoon. KJ sang many of their favorites including some patriotic tunes in honor of Flag Day.

Residents participated in a Flag Day ceremony this morning with a poem read by our Administrator followed by the Pledge of Allegience.

For National Donut Day the Dunkin’ Donuts in Loyalsock donated donut making kits for our residents and two dozen donuts for our staff! The residents enjoyed decorating their own donuts today and the staff appreciate being thought of. Thank you so much Dunkin’ for the donation!

Senior living community looking for enthusiastic dietary aides to assist with meal prep, serving and clean up. All shifts available. Positions include some weekends. Face masks are required to be worn for this position. Negative COVID-19 test required to begin employment. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Great flexible positions!

On this day we remember and honor those who gave all.

Residents have been enjoying a book club organized by dietary aide, Hannah Stroble. They gather weekly to hear Hannah read a book that the group chose. Currently they are reading, Hannah’s Dream, by Jerry Eicher.

Congratulations are in order for Jessica Willits who graduated last weekend from Penn State with her BSN in nursing! Jessica has worked for us on breaks and weekends the past year as a caregiver and med tech. She continues working with us as she studies for her NCLEX which will certify her as an RN. Once she is certified she has a job offer with UPMC. We are so excited for you, Jessica, and wish you well with your future!

We are aware that the CDC issued new masking recommendations today, however, please know that this does not currently affect Nippenose Valley Village. We follow guidance from the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Human Services and have not received directives to discontinue staff, resident or visitor masking protocols that we currently have in place. Today is National Prescription Take Back Day. Keeping expired medications can lead to misuse both intentionally and unintentionally. Senior citizens often are the victim of prescription theft for misuse. It is not safe for clean waterways to just flush them down the toilet. On Take Back Day you can drop them off at specific locations, no questions asked, to have them properly disposed of.
