It's been five years since the country woke up to the news 49 people were gunned down in a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida an attack that ripped away the innocence of a community known for family vacations to Disney World and with it leaving the LGBTQ community on edge during a month of Pride celebrations. -CHRISTAL HAYES | USA TODAY #KeepDancing #PrideIsAProtest #lgbtqpride #pulsenightclub #WeSeeYou #pride2021

It’s not just the judges at the common pleas level that matter. It’s local, magisterial court judges, that have the ability to change the landscape of our criminal justice system. Bail Treatment Referrals to social services ... These are just a few crucial aspects magistrates can focus on before exploring incarceration as a form of justice. #judge #court #law #reform #PublicDefender #SocialServices #MentalHealth #Addiction #Diversion

To build a youth justice system that supports our youth, rather than traumatizes them, we must listen to those most impacted. We must uplift the voices of people with lived experiences, not those who seek to protect contracts or jobs. Check out this powerful op-ed from two of our youth leaders, Rodney and Will, who have experienced the horrors of incarceration and are demanding a better future for young people like themselves. #carenotcontrol... Unconscious prejudices and negative attitudes toward certain groups of people can compromise good health care when those prejudices involve patients or make the clinical workplace more difficult. Research shows that these unspoken biases can be changed, but individuals must recognize that they have them in the first place. Created by Harvard University's Project Implicit, the Implicit Association Test (IAT) is designed to measure the strength of your associations between conc...epts and stereotypes. There are IATs that test you on biases related to weight, gender, disability, race, sexuality, age, and more. The first step to change is admitting you have bias, find yours and begin to heal your heart and the community! https://implicit.harvard.edu/implicit/takeatestv3.html #blm #blacklivesmatter #montcostrong #noplaceforhate #justice

Crucial information is often conveyed in comprehensive mitigation packets. These personal stories are presented in court to show our clients humanity, tell their story, and ensure that the impact of incarceration within a community is explained to every party as we seek justice. That is holistic representation. #justice #reform #clientcentered #publicdefender #law
