Today wraps up another busy and successful year for Mifflinburg FFA at the Pa Farm Show. In addition to the Keystone Degrees and Jacket recipients we posted earlier in the week, we also had members Lane and Justin Hook showing their market lambs. Wrapping up the show today, member Ethan Hauck made a presentation on his tractor restoration project. Special thanks to all of those that support these members, making all this possible.
Parents are recognized when their third child receives his or her Keystone Degree. Today, Steven and Brandi Hook were recognized for their children Brittany, Steven Jr., and Justin all reaching the level of Keystone Degree. Congratulations!
Andrew Snook received the State Ag Star award in Agribusiness as the owner of Snook's Lawncare & Landscaping.
We had a lot of members recognized today at the PA FFA Winter Convention. First were four first year members for receiving their FFA jackets. Austin Hanselman on the left and Garrett Franck on the right. Also receiving jackets and unable to attend were Amber Catherman and Hunter Resseguie. Congratulations!

We are proud to share the efforts of Ethan Hauck on the restoration of his International tractor. Along with the help from several other students in last year's Ag Mechanics classes, Ethan totally restored a 660 International tractor, beginning in the ag shop and finishing it at home. It is now ready for the FFA tractor restoration competition at the PA Farm Show in January. If you can make it there, be sure to check out this beautiful tractor along with all of the other ones from the other FFA chapters. Thank you Lancaster Farming for sponsoring this contest! https://youtu.be/I75Mqz9PaRY

First stop of our National Convention trip. Dickinson Cattle Ranch in eastern Ohio. A 5000 acre ranch created in the 1990’s on reclaimed stripmine land now raises Longhorn, African Watusi, and Dutch BueLingo cattle. Thanks Dickinson Cattle Co for the great tour!
More than 90 high school students joined us yesterday for our annual farm tour! We toured two dairy farms in Eastern Pennsylvania, including Four-Zag Hill Farm ...and Whitenight Family Farm. Students learned from different industry professionals who showcased the wide range of careers available in the dairy industry from careers as a veterinarian and ag engineer to a feed specialist and extension agent. The group also toured Milkhouse Creamery LLC. where they viewed their on-site processing plant and learned how the family processes their own milk and ice cream mix. Thank you to our farms, creameries, careers speakers, and teachers for giving students a firsthand look at today's dairy industry and making this learning experience possible! The tours were also live streamed so students and families could watch them virtually. If you're interested in watching them back or playing them for your classroom, click here: Four-Zag Hill Farm Tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWIadsrgqOU Whitenight Family Farm Tour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9b2xFoVGWk
Today our Introduction to Agriculture class got to tour and learn about 3 unique Northeastern PA dairy operations: Whitenight Family Farm, Milkhouse Creamery LLC., and Four-Zag Hill Farm. Thank you to these family run businesses along with the other organizations and ag professionals who were there to share their expertise and answer students questions about their respective industries and careers. These included Valley Mobile Veterinary Service, Wenger Feeds, AgChoice Farm Credit, TeamAg, Inc., and Penn State Extension. A special thank you also to the team from the Center for Dairy Excellence for organizing the entire experience.
Today is National Farmers Day. We would like to extend our thanks and appreciation for the folks who wake up everyday to produce the food that we all depend on. Farmers risk a lot, sometimes collect only small rewards, but do what they do with a noble purpose. Thank you.
