First Holy Communion
"Faith is the face-to-face in darkness." (St. Elizabeth of the Trinity, Letter 165)
Today our 12 noon Mass is being taken from the Mass on the anniversary of the dedication of a church. The actual anniversary of the Consecration of St. Lawrence is this Tuesday, April 20. But we are permitted to celebrate this anniversary today for the benefit of the faithful.
You are invited to a virtual fundraiser for the Flower of Carmel Hermitage on Tuesday, 10/27 at 7pm at FlowerOfCarmelHermitage.org! Many of you have seen Sister Mary Catherine Rose, a hermit who attends Mass at Mater Dei. Sister has young women interested in the vocation, and so she is working hard, with the blessing of Bishop Gainer, to establish a "Laura," which is a colony of hermits living in individual hermitages, but on a common piece of land with a common chapel. The ...prayers of hermits are so needed in the world today, and imagine how powerful those prayers are when many hermits can come together, still living solitary lives of prayer, but joining their prayers and lives together in a colony! They have found some land that would work well for the Laura, and now need help to make it possible. You can become a partaker in this God-given mission and by attending the virtual fundraiser, and supporting the Hermitage with your prayers and your financial support. When: October 27, 2020 at 7:00 PM What: A Virtual Fundraiser, with the theme "CONVERSATIONS WITH GOD" How: Registration is required. The registration form is on the homepage at FlowerOfCarmelHermitage.org. Speakers: *Most Reverend Ronald W. Gainer, Bishop of Harrisburg *Sister Mary Catherine Rose Giacobbe, Erem.Dio *Dan Burke, the founder of the Avila Institute http://www.flowerofcarmelhermitage.org/

First Friday Mass, Devotion, and Sung Compline is tonight! Adoration until Mass begins at 6:30pm, followed by the Litany to the Sacred Heart and Sung Compline.
It's such a joy to hear choral music again at our noon Sung Mass, like this excerpt from this morning's Communion motet, a setting of "Ubi Caritas" composed in 2014 by Christoph Dalitz (http://music.dalitio.de/choir/dalitz/ubi-caritas/) Fr. Eichman reminded us in his sermon of the importance of avoiding "tale bearing" and unnecessarily sowing discord and division. Similarly, "Ubi Caritas" tells us in one of its verses: "Lest we in mind be divided, let us beware. Let cease mal...icious quarrels, let strife give way, and in the midst of us be Christ our God.." --UBI CARITAS-- Where charity and love are, there God is. The love of Christ has gathered us into one. Let us exult, and in Him be joyful. Let us fear and let us love the living God. And from a sincere heart let us love each other (and Him). Where charity and love are, there God is. Therefore, whensoever we are gathered as one: Lest we in mind be divided, let us beware. Let cease malicious quarrels, let strife give way. And in the midst of us be Christ our God. Where charity and love are, there God is. Together also with the blessed may we see, Gloriously, Thy countenance, O Christ our God: A joy which is immense, and also approved: Through infinite ages of ages. Amen.
