Sadly 304 Lycoming County residents have lost their lives due to COVID 19 with 128 of these deaths in 2021. Fortunately we are seeing a reduction in these deaths and 9,953 residents have tested positive and 28,865 have tested negative since the beginning of the pandemic last year. With the vaccines rolling out and continued precautions, hopefully we will see a return to normal over the next several months. Below is a list of COVID Vaccine Locations throughout the region. ... Currently vaccines are only available for those in Phase 1A (healthcare workers, nursing home residents and staff, people 65+, and people 18-65 with certain high-risk medical conditions). This was first posted in October of 2020 and it has been no secret for many years about the needs of my office due to the potential hazards that my staff are exposed to and inadequate facilities to decontaminate ourselves and vehicles. For many months discussions have been on going regarding the lease or purchase of a building that would meet the needs of my office and several other County needs. There is Act 13 funding to easily cover the cost... of this project and $1.4 M budgeted in my budget to get this done, but the can continues to be kicked down the road. Again I would ask that County residents call or email the Commissioners Office encouraging them to get this done. I would not have needed to call PEMA requesting a refrigerated container be delivered to hold deceased if this project would have been done after the feasibility study was completed in 2012. Now 9 years later and nothing has been done to address the safety issues.

I started my day with our monthly Lycoming County Health Improvement Coalition Zoom meeting. Part of the meeting included discussions about where eligible persons can obtain the COVID 19 Vaccine? According to the PA DOH Website and per conversations, here are the available phone numbers to call: River Valley Health and Dental: 570-567-5400 UPMC Williamsport: 1-833-299-4358... Geisinger Hospitals: 570-284-3657 Evangelical Community Hospital: 570-522-4530 If I hear of any other locations I will be sure to share. It looks like select Weis and Rite Aid Pharmacies will be providing the vaccine once available along with Family Practice Center/Hughesville. I received my 2nd vaccine last Wednesday and other than the achy arm I had no other side effects. Sadly the persons dying with positive COVID 19 tests have continued to increase with 252 deaths reported to my office, out of this total 106 have died so far this year. The average age of these persons is 82 years of age. The good news is that the local hospitals are seeing less COVID positive patients and only a couple persons on ventilators. It has been a crazy week with multiple COVID 19 deaths reported to my office. The numbers are sadly over 93 lives lost and the average age remains around 84 years. Sadly these persons all had many many co-morbidities making their immune system compromised and unable to overcome the Coronavirus. Stay safe everyone!!

The COVID 19 testing is continuing resulting in an increase in number of positive tests, negative tests and unfortunately deaths. Below are the updates for Lycoming County Lycoming Total Positives: 2,315 Lycoming Total Negatives: 19,298... Lycoming Deaths: 54 Hospitalizations: 70 (17 ICU) On Ventilators: 9 Please be careful maintaining safe distancing, wearing a mask when in crowded areas and frequent hand washing. The elderly with other medical issues are clearly the most vulnerable based on the 54 deaths that have been reported to my office.
