Chatting at the General Sutter 07.12.2020

CHATTING CLUB: MONDAYS AT 7 PM BY ZOOM. We discuss a new topic each week in an open, honest conversational forum. Join us every week using this Zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86190453518. This Week’s Topic for Monday, November 23: "Election Leads to Reflections on Democracy" -- How does your understanding of "separation of church and state" help you decide how to function as a citizen of the United States? What roles does religion have in government? The elections are ...wrapping up, but democracy is more than just a single day in a polling place. It is about building the type of society that we think is good for our neighbors and ourselves. So, how do we work together to define that good from a moral and/or religious perspective? Join us in a one hour discussion of those vital topic. Check out ChattingAtTheGeneralSutter.US for more info about this group. Chatting at the General Sutter - Lititz https://jeffbridges.com/latest has a bunch of interesting links to music, poems and art in response to Jeff Bridge's experiences with his own mortality in light of a cancer diagnosis. In full disclosure, there may be some salty language and some views that we wouldn't all agree with. However, it is an interesting perspective on how this fellow sojourner is journeying through this stage of his life. What would you say or sing or draw if you became deeply aware that life is finite (whether it will end months, years or decades from now)?

CELEBRATING 5 YEARS OF HEALTHY CONVERSATIONS: October 5, 2020 was our 5th Anniversary of "Chatting" in Lititz! Originally called Lifetree Cafe, we started with a handful of lay people and pastors with a vision to create a safe space for people to hold engaging conversations where real life and faith intersect. All opinions are welcome--as long as they are expressed in ways that are kind and welcoming of others. Thank you to the General Sutter Inn for being such a great partne...r for all of these years. We cannot wait until we can gather again in person--and maybe today's announcement about a potential vaccine will help make that a reality in 2021!! Here was the original article in the LNP about the group from 5 years ago: https://lancasteronline.com//article_ac04dad0-6e9e-11e5-b9 Jerry McGrath, Anisa Candy, Dave Kammerer, Jason Perkowski, Mike Shifflet, Tom Chapman, and Jackie Styles <--some of our faithful leaders from over this half-decade together!! Thank you!

CHATTING CLUB ONLINE VIA ZOOM MONDAYS AT 7 PM Topic for Monday, Nov. 2: "I Don’t Have a Personal Relationship with Jesus." A recent article written by a Christian admitted that her relationship with God has never been "personal" in the sense of seeing God as a close companion. Her account helps us consider what is meant when we say (or hear other people say) things like "I have a personal relationship with God." ... We engage in dialogue about a different topic each weekmaking space for different opinions and for folks to enjoy an interesting conversation. Tonight's session will be led by Pastor Jason Perkowski who will guide the conversation in a way that will make space for everyone to be heard.
