TEN YEARS AGO we broke ground on Para Vida mission house in Zacapa, Guatemala!! This photo was taken 8 weeks after groundbreaking. Thank you, Lord, for all YOU have allowed us to accomplish in the poorest villages -- where those abandoned, forgotten, and hopeless need to know there's a God who cares about their lives. I remember well how much we knew about missions, Guatemala, and what was ahead as we broke ground in spring of 2011. It was pretty much next to nothing!! God carried us through ALL the ups and downs. This is going to be another groundbreaking year for Life of Promise Ministries, as we address huge new challenges facing families in our villages. Thanks to all who support the ministry through prayer, encouragement, and finances. We couldn't do it without you.

Semana Santa . The most amazing and miraculous week in history

Please pray for Guatemala. Two active volcanos -- Fuego and Pacaya -- have been erupting and showing signs of large erruptions like the one in 2018 which killed thousands of people. Aurora Airport in Guatemala city is closed as of yesterday because ash blowing in from the volcanic eruption of Pacaya is covering more than 60 kilometers. This ash is like a mix of sand, glass, and stone. It's the kind that easily destroys airplane engines. It's obviously dangerous for humans to inhale. Lord, please keep the residents of Guatemala City, Antigua, and surrounding areas from harm.

Today is World Water Day. It's a sad fact that so much of the world doesn't have access to clean drinking water. Three of our Zacapa villages do not have water wells, and many families cannot afford to buy water from the trucks that go around every 10 days. So they resort to contaminated water from the Zacapa river. We continue to supply families with 5-gallon purifying filters that are made in Guatemala. Ecofiltros work wonders by utilizing clay inserts that are infused with activated carbon and colloidal silver. Thank you so much River Mountain Chapel for providing the funds to build this home for Cristian, Astrid, and their 5 children!! This family lost their home when it was destroyed by hurricane Iota in November. Cristian does seasonal work at a melon farm (very common for the men of Zacapa) and Astrid makes tortillas and sells them at her mother's table in the street market. The entire family got involved in building their new home -- bringing buckets of water from the river, hauling concrete blocks and wood, mixing cement, etc. They are so thankful to the Lord for this wonderful blessing!!!

Can anyone help? Maria is one of the seamstresses in our village of Conevisa. Bayron Amilcar García is her husband, and her children are Karen Aracely y Cristian Alesis. Their home burned down several days ago, and they are left with nothing. Bayron used to work downtown selling Granizadas, which is a difficult job. He rented a Granizada cart (basically a snow cone cart on wheels) and the cart owners demand their take first. So he basically had to work four days to cov...er payment of the cart rental, and two days to make money for his family. Since Covid-19 hit one year ago, Bayron has been out of work. Can you imagine losing your home (such as it is -- metal sheeting for walls and dirt floors) under those circumstances? Maria is one of our very courage moms, and Bayron is a man of honor who stays with his family when many men are taking off in despair. Please go to our website if you can help in any way.
