Shoppers can opt to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar when they check out, with proceeds donated to the featured organization for that two month period. Customers can also choose to increase their at-the-register donation by adding to their round up value.... We’re launching 2021 with all donations during the months of January and February going directly to the Lancaster LGBTQ+ Coalition, a 501(c)(3) organization based here in Lancaster that works to build a supportive and enriching community abundant in opportunities for LGBTQQIA+ individuals and those with a stake in creating a more inclusive Lancaster County. #FoodStorageSunday: Bacon When bacon is freshest: Fresh, 7 days; dry-cured, 4 to 6 days; cooked, 4 to 5 days; frozen, up to 3 months. The best way to store your bacon is in its original packaging or inside a zip-top plastic bag with the air removed.... If you plan to freeze bacon unopened, overwrap the store package with heavy-duty foil. If freezing opened bacon, layer slices between wax or parchment paper, and then wrap tightly a few times with the paper; store in a sealed zip-top freezer bag. How to use it up: Bacon s’mores, bacon cookies, bacon bits, bacon-wrapped vegetables, bacon cupcakes... Store bacon grease in a covered container in the refrigerator and, when the mood strikes, use it in cooking. Try rubbing bacon fat onto cleaned russet potatoes before baking; meanwhile, sauté some red onions in bacon fat, then top the potatoes with the onions and crumble on some cooked bacon if you’ve got it.

New bulk herb spotlight: Astragalus root (Astragalus mongholicus). Astragalus is known as an immunomodulator, balancing the response of the immune system to a particular situation. It can either increase or decrease activity as needed, supporting the body's natural stress response. Astragalus has also been shown to contain antioxidants specific to supporting respiratory tract health and polysaccharides known for their immune supporting properties. Traditionally prepared by bo...iling the dried root in water (1 TBSP dried root to 2 cups of water) astragalus is not only an easy tea to prepare. The dried root slices are often added to soups, beans, or rice during the cooking process.
