Here’s the pools and schedules for tomorrow. Don’t worry, I’m cleaning up this copy and I will be sending it along to all managers tomorrow with the addresses to the fields. I’ll have a few other notes and reminders I’ll be sending to you all as well. Good luck

Kingston Recreation Softball League 28.03.2021

We have 14 teams registered for the Dirty Duck Tournament this weekend. Potentially a 15th will be joing. please review ALL rostering guidelines and rules. I would like to have everyone’s roster sent to me via messenger, text, or even email by tomorrow evening if possible. I need time to check them over. Worst case I receive them by 4 pm this Thursday. If I do not have your rosters before I do the draw on Thursday night, your team will not be included. I will be live stre...am the draw around 7 pm this Thursday on a couple of the softball league pages. Registration fees can be paid now and up to the day of the tournament. Unless there is an unforeseen change, we will be using Kingston Rec field, Kirby Park Field 1, and Coal St for the tournament. The semis will be at Kirby and Rec and the Finals at Rec. Any questions, message me and I’ll answer them. Thank you.

Standings after week 1. If I made a mistake, it can be corrected. I’m human and also I’m a terrible proof reader. Just shoot me a message and relax. It’s not like the standings are going into the Smithsonian. I’m including WINNING % because we do not have the luxury of making up games due to rain outs or other unforeseen circumstances. Just like last year, if the standings are uneven, winning % will determine playoff seeding.

This bat was left at the field at Kingston Rec on Wednesday night during the coed league I believe. Since the Rec building was closed, I have it in my possession. If you know who it belongs to, please let me know so I can make arrangements to return it to them. I also would like to give a shout out to Billy Corcoran for turning the bat in so we could find the owner. Classy move man. I’m sure the owner will be extremely appreciative. Thank you.

Quick notes and clarifications since leagues began last night: 1. Everyone needs to turn in a preliminary roster for the month of April. It’s to ensure teams aren’t sharing players and I hear a bunch of complaining. ALL rosters are to be turned in so they can be filed at Kingston Rec at the front desk. You have until May 1st to make any changes to those rosters on file. After May 1st they’re frozen and changes will not be allowed without a majority vote from your league t...eams. If you do not make any changes, you can just leave your preliminary April roster on file and it will serve as your finalized one when May 1st arrives. I will then be posting the rosters. I need full names on the rosters. 2. The ONLY night I need a copy of the rosters sent to me is for the Thursday night E league. The other two league nights are open classification so I do not have to check them with the database. I need either an email or screen shot of ALL THURSDAY E LEAGUE ROSTERS ASAP. The paper copy can be turned in at the front desk but I need one sent to me to check. If I do not have your team’s by the week’s end, you will begin forfeiting games next week. If you use an illegal player this Thursday because your roster was not in, you will receive a forfeit for that game as well. 3. Any questions or issues with players classifications for the Thursday E League can go through local ASA director Ronnie Trimble or the head state director for Eastern PA, Bob Ream. I’m sure there are players that have slipped through the cracks over the past few years. Regardless of how I feel certain players should be classed, it is NOT my call to reclassify them. I can only use the information provided on the database to confirm eligibility. If someone’s class is changed, then we can address it. Otherwise what’s on the database is what stands as official. 4. All league fees need to be turned in by your game night next week. Again if you don’t have them in you will receive a forfeit. 5. Lastly, the Thursday E League will be known as the Greg Kriner Memorial E League from here on out. It’s in memory of the longtime Kingston Rec Director Gregory Kriner who passed away suddenly last month. Greg fought to keep the softball programs going at the Rec and especially the E League. Thanks everyone. Good luck this season.

For any of our local Umpires or anyone else who might want to get certified. One Nation Tournament Umps get paid well and they’re hoping to hold at least two events in NEPA this year.

Kingston Recreation Softball League 10.02.2021

With indoor restrictions what they are, I’m most likely going to run virtual meetings through Zoom instead of meeting face to face for the preseason league night meetings. Hopefully most managers would be able to attend that way. Anyone have an issue with virtual?

Kingston Recreation Softball League 04.02.2021

Happy Easter Everyone!!! Just a reminder. All Rec leagues begin starting tomorrow night. Teams please get your provisional rosters and league payments in. Your finalized rosters aren’t due until May 1st, but I need the provisional ones so there are no squabbles about pick up players and double rostered ones from now til then. Thank you and good luck to you all.

Ok great news. I’ve mentioned before that Chris Wunder, our regional One Nation Softball Director, is looking to hold an introductory One Nation tournament in the Wilkes Barre Area. We’ve update the team list for Kingston Rec’s Summer Leagues. We now have 4 teams on Mondays, 6 on Wednesdays, and 11 on Thursdays. It would be nice to get to an even number of teams for Thursdays but we have nice turnouts for that league and Wednesday’s coed. We will still take more if they want to join. **I have had a bunch of guys privately express interest in playing in the One Nation/ASA Dual Sanction League on Mondays. If we can get someone to be responsible for run...ning a team and manage it, I’m sure we can get enough quality players to play on that team. Most of the teams currently signed up have nearly full rosters so guys are looking for teams to play on. If whoever takes over that team wants and they qualify through classification as a rec. team, they will be given the option of either an extra DHH (designated home run hitter) or start ever inning with a player at second base. So if you want to play on a one nation league team, please message me so I can start forming a list of players. Also, if you wouldn’t mind the responsibility of managing a team, shoot me a message as well. Thanks. See more

Okay everyone, all the league schedules and rules have been posted. League begin a week today on April 5th. A couple quick notes and loose ends to tie up before we start. Managers: 1. Please make sure you have your preliminary rosters filled out and sent to me so I have time to review eligibility. (I only need to review the rosters of the E leagues but still be the other leagues’ rosters on file.) they’re due April 1st. ... 2. Please review the schedules and the rules. Any issues, please message me. 3. Reminder all league payments are due by week 2. (Get a receipt) $315 for Monday Nights $290 for Wednesday and Thursday Nights 4. Please be courteous and make sure your benches are cleaned up after your games and if someone leaves equipment, let the Rec or myself know so we can find the proper owner. Good luck and let’s have a great season everyone. Thanks!

Kingston Recreation Softball League 04.01.2021

Ok everyone, we’re into February. In less then two months most leagues will be starting. We’ll be having league meetings starting the weekend after the Super Bowl. We have two league nights in danger of being vacant. (Tuesday and Wednesday) *We need at least one more team to run our Wednesday coed league. I had a couple new people ask about teams but have not heard back. We can take up to 8 teams. *We also are looking for teams for the Tuesday 35 and over league we’re try...ing to start. I’ve have many inquiries but no concrete commitments. Robert Burney Matthew Bradley Brian McNew Thomas Turonis Turk Kolbeck Vinnie Cirello or any other guys who might be interested in a 35 and over league team, let me know. Need at least 4 teams. Classes do not matter. There are a bunch of guys that want to play but don’t have teams. If you put it out there, you might be able to fill a roster. *Also, we have 4 teams for Monday night’s One Nation/ASA league. We could always take a few more. There is a handicap for the E teams joining that levels the competition vs D teams. I’ll be honest, any team looking to get into Utrip style ball ought to get into this league for the experience. *Finally, We still have an opening for at least 1 Thursday Night E league team. Thank you.

Ok everyone, I hope all is well. I’m trying to be more proactive with things for next year since we had such a late jump on things last season before I got the Kingston Rec gig. Here are the following nights and leagues we will be running at the Rec this season. If we go over the standard 8 teams, don’t worry about it, I’ll make arrangements to use another complex if need be. League costs will be going up a bit this season but will still be less then the other leagues around.... It’s what we need to do to keep softball going at the Rec. Comment your nights and team names please and I’ll add them. (Team names can be change later on) Thanks. MONDAYS: One Nation/ASA dual sanction 1. Philadelphia Subs 2. Blue Square 3. MOB 4. Lost Boys 5. 6. TUESDAYS: 35 and Over WEDNESDAYS: Coed 1. Balls and Dollz 2. Dynamutts 3. Kate’s Place 4. 5. 6. THURSDAYS: ASA E/Rec 1. Lost Boys 2. Vino’s Deli 3. Milwaukee’s Best 4. Handel’s Ice Cream 5. Blue Barracudas 6. BOS 7. Stealth 8. Pizza Bella 9. Bonito 10. 11. 12. FRIDAYS: Random Draw nights occasionally (more info to come) SATURDAYS: Open for tournament use SUNDAYS: Open for a league. *Anyone not able to find a team for 35 and over, comment below and we’ll see if we get enough guys to make at least 4 teams. Same with any of these leagues. Comment below and I’ll begin adding teams. Thank you all in advance.

I’ve been get a lot of inquiries lately about our One Nation dual sanction league we run on Monday Night’s at Rec. Chris Wunder is our region director for One Nation and runs some of the best tournaments around. Often times the winners receive paid berths to future One Nation events like Nationals etc. He and I have had discussions about potentially holding a few events in our area. I’ve been sending out invites to like the One Nation Slow Pitch of PA page to various people ...or teams who I believe might be interested in playing this format. Hopefully we can get a few of these events in the Valley this season. If not, I know he’s trying to host some in Lewisburg, PA and he has several of them in south central PA every year. If you think this format is something you might be interested in let me know and I’ll send you an invite to the page. Thanks. See more

Potentially cool news. I’m going to be hosting a series of Friday Night Spotlight random draws during the season Rec. The hope is to hold at least one Friday night random a month where we feature a gift package from one of many regional uniform/equipment suppliers. One paid participant will be drawn at random to win the package from that week’s spotlighted supplier. Right now I have commitments from at least three of them. The hope is to bring more attention to some of these local softball vendors. If the first one is successful, we’ll continue to do more periodically.

There is a pitcher with Utrip experience that’s in the area for work for a while. I’m not sure how long that is, but he is looking for a Monday One Nation team to play with. If any of the Monday teams want to bring on an experienced Utrip pitcher, his name is Prent Malone. Send him a DM.

Not all the fields in Columbus have streaming. I’m going to stream the 1st Mojo game on the page between the Dirty Ducks and 187 from Indiana. Be patient because it’s tough to get a good spot to stream with the screens over the backstop. Game should be starting soon.

Kingston Recreation Softball League 20.12.2020

Hello All! I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. I’ve been fielding questions the last few weeks from people about leagues next season and as of now, the plan is to keep last year’s league night schedule the same. Monday: One Nation/ASA (Dual Sanc.) Wednesday: Coed ASA Thursday: E League ASA... I would like to try and fill Tuesday and Friday nights with something and Sundays as well. I do not want to compete against the Tuesday Kirby League for a standard ASA League. Dave and Ronnie were very receptive last season in working with the Rec league when we needed an extra field for the Thursday league as well as donating fields for people’s events. I would like to maybe try and make a 35 and over league for Tuesday or Friday nights. I’d also like to see one of the Sunday leagues use Rec. It’s still the best maintained field around and have their own grounds crew. I am open for suggestions as well. We’ll start a teams list for leagues in a week or two. Thanks

Kingston Recreation Softball League 10.12.2020

Addressing this because I was asked and so people don’t t think I have multiple personalities. When we post on the Rec page, there are 3 people with administrator access so sometimes when we answer posts it answers them as Kingston Rec instead of our standard fb names. That’s why you’ll see differing or contradictory comments on a post from time to time. It could also be Jenny or in some cases Greg answering you. The same goes for DM’s to Rec as well. My advice is if you need to get in contact with one of us directly, DM our personal accounts. If not it’s no big deal but i know I’ve had a couple confused people ask me about it. Thanks. Lol

Kingston Recreation Softball League 30.11.2020

I’m happy to announce that after discussions with Kingston Rec officials, I will be staying on as the Rec Softball Commissioner for the 2021 season. My hopes are we can build upon a relatively successful 2020 season. Even with being behind the 8 ball to start this past year playing under the fears and uncertainty of Covid, we still were able to increase our team counts. I’m optimistic we can improve on that number next season as well. I will be starting to accept teams some...time in December. I am open to suggestions on what formats teams would like to see next season. I would like keep the One Nation/ASA Dual league. I feel it was really successful in its first year. Also, Thursday will say E and I’d like to keep the coed league going too. Rec will be made available for other leagues if they have interest as well as to rent for tournaments at a low fee on Saturdays. Hopefully we build on this past year’s success and keep softball alive and thriving at the Rec for years to come. Thank you. See more
