We’re living in extraordinary times and sometimes we need support to get through. What a blessing that @jfcspgh has created @upstreetpgh to provide FREE mental health and therapy services to our youth (ages 12-22) in Pittsburgh. If you (or someone you know) could benefit, please share this info: upstreetpgh.org / @upstreetpgh A shidduch like this is a mega-mitzvah!

Two years ago today, our community was fundamentally changed, showing us that we are both more vulnerable and more resilient than we had realized. Today is a day to remember the victims, to hold space for grief, to feel our strength as one community, to reach out to metaphorically hold the hand of a neighbor. While we cannot be physically together, we are united in our hope for a brighter future- one that is free from the racism, bigotry and hatred which led to the horrifi...c attack on the three congregations that shared space at the Tree of Life synagogue. We will always remember the eleven precious souls who were once woven into the very fabric of who we are as a community. We say their names, we hold a space in hearts for those directly impacted by the events of that day, and we offer comfort to those in our immediate reach. We will never forget, but we will continue to find strength in one another. While we are mostly only virtually these days, we see one another’s eyes and smiles. Even though it’s not the same as feeling a warm embrace, it is in one another’s faces that we see our shared humanity. We must never break this chain of connection and in this way, we will know that we are never truly alone. Jewish people often say: May their memories be for a blessing. It is up to us to search for these blessings now in the darkness of the oncoming winter and the isolation of COVID. And it is up to us to become those blessings amidst all that continues to unfold in our world.
