Clare Shilling returned this past week to complete her half life-size black bear and habitat and also decided to put in an additional 3 days of work on whitetail deer. The bear and habitat turned out terrific and the deer she mounted turned out fantastic as well. Here are some pictures of her hard work and end results. Parker Argot returned for 2 days of in depth finish work this past Saturday and Sunday to finish off his advanced class.. For a young man who hasn't been doing taxidermy for too long, he sure has the desire to learn and now he has the skill set that will put him years ahead of the trial and error way of learning. Spent the past 5 days with a great young man, Parker Argot. Parker brought his "A" game and desire to learn and advance his taxidermy skills. Here are some photos of his results from skin prep, form alteration, anatomy study and mounting portion of his 7 day class. One on one classes fill up quickly! Call the studio at 724-668-8668 to set up your own personalized class. Here are some pictures from last weeks class with Clare Shilling. We started with a photo of the pose that Clare wanted to replicate and proceeded to alter from the chosen stock form. With measurements from the carcass we altered the form for size as well as pose and throughout the process, pre fit the skin to ensure a proper fit. ... We covered the importance of proper skin prep, ear placement, earbutt anatomy and size. Eye setting, angle. depth, rotation and clay work to replicate the desired look. The bear was then mounted, sewn and adjusted to ensure that all anatomy and hair patterns were in the correct places. Finally the habitat was started by fabricating a custom log for the bear to be resting on as seen in the live reference photo. Clare will return in a few weeks for the final 2 days of the class to complete the finish work on the bear and also complete the habitat. See more
