September was designated Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to bring awareness to childhood cancer, which remains the leading cause of death by disease for children under the age of 14. We wanted to share Kelsey's story and some photos of Kelsey. This is why we do what we do. Please click on the photo below to read a story from Kelsey, a little over a year before she passed away.

Kelsey's Dream 16.07.2020

Hopper the Cancer Crusher is making his way across the country to Valley Children's Hospital in Madera, California. We have been shipping and stocking Hopper at Valley Children's Hospital for a few years for each newly diagnosed childhood cancer patient. Valley Children's Hospital is one of the leading hospitals in the country. Hopper the Cancer Crusher is a useful play therapy toy. "Nearly 70 years ago, Valley Children's Healthcare began as the vision of five civic-minded women who saw the need for a dedicated pediatric hospital in Central California. Since then, they have grown from a 42-bed hospital to one of the largest pediatric healthcare networks in the country."

Kelsey's Dream 03.07.2020

Last evening, Kylie reminded me that this was the weekend of the anniversary of the bone marrow donation. I guess that is why Friday - today, I seemed a little down. Sometimes your brain just knows. I am so proud of both my daughters - Tina 9/4/2003 - this was the day I became a Bone Marrow Donor for my sister, Kelsey. In this photo is Kelsey, age 9 years, and me, age 6 years, the day of transplant at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. This is right after my transplant sur...gery and Kelsey is receiving my stem cells via her mediport. My older sister, Kelsey, was diagnosed with Leukemia one month before her fifth birthday. Kelsey later went into remission and after 2-1/2 years in remission, the cancer returned. The doctors suggested a Bone Marrow Transplant. When I found out that I was a perfect antigen match for Kelsey, I couldn't wait to help and willingly became my sister's Bone Marrow Donor. After a two-year fight, Kelsey passed away as a result of the disease. I still wanted to help; the fight with cancer isn't over. Kelsey was a very kind and giving person, who touched many people's lives. My hope is that I can help bring smiles and happiness to children that go through what my sister struggled with for eight years. She always smiled no matter how sick she was, and always cared about others. I know Kelsey would want us to keep smiles on these children's faces, and that is the goal of Kelsey's Dream. My personal experience and the 13,400 children (ages birth-19 years) in the United States diagnosed with cancer each year inspire the existence of this foundation. Cancer has been named the #1 cause of disease-related death for children in the United States - our goal is to contribute what we can to change this. - Kylie

Kelsey's Dream 17.06.2020

Did you know Kelsey’s Dream helped create a special program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia? We sponsor that program because Kelsey had her Bone Marrow Transplant at CHOP and her little sister, Kylie, was her donor. The day of transplant is celebrated as a birthday, by the donor and recipient. This program was created to give the donor and recipient a birthday celebration with gifts and these special cell -abrate life shirts. This is the the 11th year we sponsored this program and today we shipped another year supply of shirts for the patients, to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Pictured is Tina, Kelsey and Kylie’s mom, showing a sample of the back of the shirts at Green Ridge Graphic Design in Mifflinburg. We also attached a detail of the design, which includes the Kelsey's Dream logo on the sleeve.
