Tick Removal : Apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball. Cover the tick with the soap soaked cotton ball and swab it for a few seconds (15-20); the tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away!!

Turning on the outside faucet for the first time after the winter thaw could result in a leak. This is a result of something freezing either in the outside faucet or in the line running into the basement. If you experience this and are in the need of an outside faucet replacement...... We have just posted a Spring Special for the replacement of a new outside faucet. Print out the coupon and give us a call!

SUMP PUMP TIP April showers bring May flowers and can also bring flooding if you have not tested your sump pump lately. Take a couple of buckets of water and dump them into the pit, make sure the pump is working. You do not want to find out too late that it needs to be replaced. And if you are in the need of a new one we have posted a $15.00 off coupon toward a new pump. Just print out the coupon and present it to Jack prior to the new pump being installed. FYI most m...unicipalities do not allow you to drain your sump pump water into your municipal sanitary sewer system. We can reroute the water to the outside for you just give us a call. See more

Check out this website http://mashable.com/2016/03/18/lush-wiccy-magic-plants/ Lush's Wiccy Magic Bar apparently grows plants out of your bathtub drain... Lush, a company known for its luxurious bath products, may accidentally be entering the gardening game with its Wiccy Magic Muscles massage bar. "Wiccy Magic Muscles contains a warming blend of cinnamon and peppermint essential oils that are said to stimulate the circulation to warm and loosen up stiff, achy muscles," according to Lush's website description. They also are apparently causing tiny plants to sprout from users' bathtub plug holes.Seeds included in the bar seem to be falling into drains and laying down roots, becoming full fledged plants that sprout up and out of the plug holes. Interesting!

Arctic air is upon us! It’s important to try and keep your pipes from freezing. Here are a few tips: ** Every homeowner should know where their main shut off valve is located. Place a tag on the main shut off valve to make sure everyone knows the location. **Make sure any pipes that may be exposed to cold air are well... insulated and if need be have heat tape installed and used during excessive cold weather. Areas like coal bins, crawl spaces and where there may be a draft that could freeze the pipes. **If you suspect there may be a problem during a cold spell you can leave a faucet on at a trickle to keep the water flowing during that time. Moving water will not freeze. ** If you do discover a frozen pipe get heat to the area as soon as possible checking often to make sure your heating device is SAFE we do not want any fires! You want to also check often to make sure that once the pipe thaws there are no leak. If you do discover any leaks shut the main house water valve off and immediately call us. HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE WINTER KEEP WARM!! See more

Hey all you snowbirds! Remember before you leave for the warmer states turn your main water valve off. This eliminates any surprise water leaks while you are away. Keep your heat temperature at a moderate temp to keep pipes from freezing and cracking. Open sink and vanity doors to allow some heat to get to the pipes under the sinks. Have a safe winter!

HOW TO SAVE YOURSELF FROM A FLOODED BASEMENT IN THE SPRING It's not cold yet, but it will be soon. Don't forget to take your outside hoses off your frost free outside faucets including any other attachments. Just turning off the faucet does not prevent the faucet from freezing and splitting. The hoses and all attachments must be disconnected. If you do not do this, you will not know anything is wrong until spring when you turn the faucet on for the first time and you have water leaking into your basement. We have had customers flood their basements - an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
