This week is the final Resident Spotlight of the year and it features Ian McCormack Ian is a sophomore in the College, majoring in History and minoring in Creative Writing. In his free time, he enjoys playing pool, playing ping-pong, and listening to all types of music. Ian founded the Social Deduction group, a thriving club dedicated to playing social deduction games and having fun. They meet every Friday at 7pm in the Houston Market, so if anyone is interested in Mafia an...d other assorted games, feel free to stop by! He also works at the Kelly Writers House and co-hosts a comedy radio show at the WQHS station every Sunday night at 11pm. Ian is very excited to see Social Deduction Club grow. We have been pioneering new and more interesting events for the greater Penn community, like our student-designed and run escape room that will be coming out this semester. See more

This week’s Resident Spotlight features Kaylee Arndt Kaylee is a sophomore in the School of Nursing. She is originally from North Dakota, but has found a second home ( and better weather) at Penn! She is so grateful for all of the amazing people she has gotten to meet and for all of the wonderful communities she has gotten to be a part of. On campus, Kaylee is a member of the Social Deduction Club, an organization that plays Mafia every Friday, plays Humans vs. Zombies, and... helps build and design their own escape room every year. Additionally, Kaylee works as a Student Manager at Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and is a Peer Advisor. She also hosts a WQHS radio show every Sunday at 11pm called Danny’s Dating Advice! Kaylee is also a member of Penn First, Questbridge, Model Congress, and Student Nurses at Penn. She hopes to meet more people through these clubs and organizations! See more

Joseph hopes to have numerous Harrison events on the cyber security process and on how to keep your digital data safe in an increasingly compromised virtual world. He looks forward to what positive effects he can have both on Harrison College House and at Penn! See more

This week’s Resident Spotlight features James Peterson James is in the College, majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. He is a native Philadelphian! He created Soldiers of Truth 7 years ago under the idea that it would become an animated web series. More than half a decade later, it is now a series of sci-fi novels that he will eventually publish. The Fallen: Part One is the first book in the Soldiers of Truth series. It takes place in an underground ...survivability experiment procured by the government that eventually gets taken over by two warring gangs: the Outcasts and the Fallen. The book follows Truth, the leader of an anti-gang and anti-police brutality movement, as he realizes that whether he likes it or not, he's about to get caught right in the middle of the conflict between the two gangs-which is the last thing he wants. The Fallen: Part One is nearing its final stages of development. James aims to have it published before the end of the semester. Hopefully it's well received! See more

A bonus Resident Spotlight for this week! This week’s Resident Spotlight features Catalina Runcie Catalina is a junior in the College majoring in Biochemistry. She is an exchange student originally from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. On campus, she is really excited to be organizing a Scottish ceilidh (kay-lee) with the support of the St. Andrews Society of Philadelphia. A ceilidh is a traditional Scottish social event where all the men dress up in kilts and fling women across the room in time to bagpipes. It's a lot of fun and I hope it can allow fellow Penn students to have a taste of Scottish culture without leaving Philadelphia.

This week’s Resident Spotlight features Marie-Lou Demerie Marie-Lou is a junior in Wharton, studying Strategic Management and Marketing and an exchange student from Waregem, Belgium. She studies Business Engineering at KU Leuven. Marie-Lou frequently attends events of Wharton Women and Wharton Europe. At her home university KU Leuven, she is a board member of Ekonomika, which is a business student association. Currently, she is trying to increase the amount of students from Penn who apply to go on exchange in Belgium, in collaboration with Penn Abroad. As a KU Leuven Ambassador, I aspire to motivate more students to get out of their comfort zone and to seek out new cultural experiences abroad. I believe this is integral to one's personal and intellectual development.
