First signs of life!

Hillbilly Chapel Farm 29.04.2021

THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! THANK YOU!! With all that's happening in our world today, an old fashioned thank you might be just a whisper of white noise . . . or . . . it might be just the kind of thing we need. So, the Amy family at Hillbilly Chapel Farm says, "Thank you."... We want to thank you, of course, for your business, but we also want to thank you for your kindness and concern. When COVID-19 first entered our conversations, none of us knew what to expect for the year. Personally, going full-time into the nursery business this year was daunting enough, but doing it in the uncertainty of a pandemic was totally unnerving. Thanks to your support throughout the season, we had a great year of growth. But there's more to this story. Each of us have had a wide array of changing emotions and opinions concerning the virus and the impact it has had on our day to day lives. But all of you who visited our little nursery were courteous and careful to respect our position and the feelings of other customers. Thanks - it sure made a tough situation much easier. 2020 will also forever be burned in our memories as a year filled with contention. However, as best we can recall, there were relatively few discussions here at the Chapel concerning these divisive issues, and absolutely no heated words were exchanged. We celebrate the great privileges of free thinking and speech that we enjoy in the US, and, being Scotch-Irish, the Amys wouldn't find a good argument above or below our paygrade; nevertheless, the greatest wisdom and persuasiveness are sometimes found in careful word choice or the choice not to speak at all. Thanks, again. We consider ourselves blessed to know you and to visit and chat with you. It is an honor to have the opportunity to serve people like you that have deeply held convictions leading them to work hard, pray hard, and love much. Thank you for caring for your neighbors, for comforting them through their fear, anger, and even loss - whether they agree with you about everything or not. This is what makes our life, our region, our nation so wonderful. We know many of you have suffered much through this year. Please know you are in our prayers. Keep praying and keep fighting the good fight. May the Good News and peace of Christ that we have celebrated at Christmas continue to be yours and carry you through this new year. "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Romans 12:21

Groundcover We get a lot of requests for groundcover. Most often it's to spread over a steep bank and eliminate the need to mow, but groundcover is a great asset in a variety of situations. Here are a few of the plants we have available that would be suitable to use as groundcover. Wintercreeper, English Ivy, Lady's Mantle, Little Leo, Blue Rug Juniper, Succulents, Speedwell, and Phlox.... If you've got a spot that's screaming for some groundcover, why not stop over and see if we've got what you're looking for. Some of these plants are evergreen while others like Wintercreeper offer shades of red and green fall foliage. Little Leo sports lovely yellow flowers, Red Fox Speedwell produces spikes of fuschia-pink flowers, and phlox offers a variety of colors. Blue Rug Juniper produces sprawling woody stems with blue-hued evergreen foliage. Succulents are easy to care for, spread gradually but readily, and offer unique textures around your flower bed, rock garden, or landscaping. Each of these is selling for $5 or less per 1 gallon pot at the Hillbilly Chapel Farm this week, so come on over. We'll be open Tuesday - Saturday, 10 am - 6 pm. (And we've still got mums and pumpkins!)
