Hellerick’s Family Farm THANKFUL 4U! For 30 years, every June, our Mom and Dad planted pumpkins, squash, gourds and flowers to sell at the family farm in the fall. Most years, the harvest was abundant, the weather cooperated and they had very few problems with their crops. Other years, the harvest was not as abundant, they ran into problems with a lot of weeds, disease or insects or... the weather was too hot or cold, wet or dry. Regardless of the problem, they were always Thankful and of course there was always next year!! For farmers, or anyone who cares for the land, there is always an eternal optimism that the future will be better while also being Thankful for what we have now. In addition to our Mom and Dad, it took a lot of help from family, friends and neighbors to keep the farm running smoothly and they were always very Thankful for all the help they received. One day an idea struck which would combine their love of farming with an appreciation for those who had helped them during the season. They created the Thankful 4 U TM pumpkin. Each fall, Mom & Dad would give hand painted Thankful 4 U pumpkin to family and friends who had helped them during the year. Instead of keeping the pumpkin, Mom & Dad asked everyone to pass the Thankful 4 U pumpkin on to someone who they were Thankful 4. (This was even before Pay it Forward)! The next person was given the same request; to continue to pass the pumpkin on to someone else. We are not able to give each one of you an individual Thankful 4 U pumpkin but please know that your help is always appreciated and we are Thankful for each one of you! Attached is a picture of Mom & Dads Thankful 4 U pumpkin with the same instructions our parents gave us, please pass this on to someone U are Thankful 4!
