Today in 1969, Conrad Gaiser received a patent for his invention of the 1st dryer sheet. He made them in an attempt to make his wife Audrey's life easier. To make his dryer sheet, he added fabric softener to a cotton flannel from his wife's sewing room. He named his protype Tumble Puffs. Shortly after he received his patent, he sold the rights to Proctor & Gamble, who took years to perfect the product, which they marketed as what we now know as Bounce dryer sheets.
