A special shout out to all childcare providers, but especially my team! As a school went virtual today, just like another did earlier in the year, my staff are ...there to step right in. They get their hours changed, whether it was their site or not, they all chip in. My staff start to prepare the night before, gathering information from parents then making sure we have extra supplies, head phones, chromebooks, pencils and more plus the supplies needed for before and after school care. This continues in the early hours as they start their day, they make the kids breakfast, have fun and teach social skills as usual, and then at 8:30 they have to transform into teacher aids. Now as a parent, I would say online learning can be frustrating (not this year, Lingle second grade teachers are rockin it!), but imagine the 10-20 kids my leaders have at one time. Signing in, finding assignments, trying to understand what the teacher wants, and what the heck kind of math is this! Sure some kids can do it with little to no help, but others need more attention. Some students have to sign in to this program, others that program, and sometimes all at once, and other times completely scattered. Now 3 kids are done and the rest are not, but ratio and room noise level don't allow for much for those 3 to do. Finally lunch and recess, but then they have to get them back online and focused to do their work. Finally when the school day is through, they are back at their actual job, building the kids up socially and emotionally. Yet my leaders keep leading and do their best, without complaining. They have dealt with the masks and social distancing and kids being kids since May. They have been there for the kids, underpaid and underappreciated by many. They are yet another example of heros in this time, and I want to acknowledge them for that! So thank you to the some of the best, what you do matters everyday! See more
