The sisters of the Zeta Epsilon Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta would like to extend their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. Acts of racism are occurring at a rate that is unacceptable, as they should not be happening at all. We acknowledge that it is time for broken systems to be restructured so that everyone in this country may live as they please. No one should have to fear for their life when they step out of their... house or encounter a police officer. Gamma Phi Beta was founded on love, labor, learning, and loyalty. Here is how we plan to utilize our values during this time: Love: We recognize the black American community and the struggles they continue to face in America. We respect them, we love them, and we want them to be treated equally. We believe that it is so much easier to be filled with love, than it is to be filled with hate. Labor: We promise to do our part in our communities while we are at home on summer vacation. Whether it is donating to nonprofits or speaking up when it comes time to address the horrors of racism, we will do our part to work for a better future for those within the black American community. Learning: It is time to educate. Whether that is educating ourselves, our loved ones, or our community, we will do our part to spread and raise awareness of why what happens so frequently is an injustice and needs to end now. Loyalty: We will remain true to our values during this time. We will commit ourselves to the above promises. We will keep loyal to helping those who need it, or in acknowledging what we can do to make a change in this country. It is time to get out there and vote for who you believe will make these changes. It is time to speak up. It is time to do whatever you can to make the problem of police brutality and racism vanish forever. Small impacts eventually become big ones if we all work together. With the most sincerity, The Sisters of Gamma Phi Beta at Duquesne University *art by Sacrée Frangine

We couldn’t have our signature philanthropy event at school this year, but that didn’t stop us from having some fun at home! It means the world to our chapter that we were still able to support Girls on the Run during this time
